The only major rule change for this year will be the requirement that an injured goal keeper must now leave the field if the referee stops the clock due to their injury. Previously, they were allowed to stay in the game if they were deemed to be ok. The keeper may be replaced by another field player or substitue from the bench.
Another rule change approved by the committee was to clarify when the jurisdiction of officials begins. It will now begin at the time of their arrival to the field of play and its immediate surroundings, and they are prepared to begin their official responsibilities.
2014 Rule Change
Re: 2014 Rule Change
Is there any truth to the claim that they are going to use the red rubber kick-balls like we use to have for gym class next year?
Re: 2014 Rule Change
Ha! That brings back a memory: Once upon a time, long, long ago I was reffing a USYSA girls U16 game. During the pre-game, one of the captains was exceptionally rude and mouthy, so I gave her a yellow card right there for unsportsmanlike. She said I couldn't give her a yellow card because the game hadn't started. I told her that I just did. During the game she was no problem at all.
