SOC All Conferce Players

The Southern Ohio Conference released its all-conference list earlier this week of the league’s best soccer players during the regular season.

The Player of the Year awards went to Clay’s Mason Pelphrey in the SOC I and Jacob Purpero from SOC II champion Waverly. Purpero’s coach, Chris Williamson, took home the SOC II Coach of the Year honor while the same award in the SOC I went to Corey Claxon of champion South Webster.

The Jeeps had the most on the SOC I First Team with seven, including Denver Fuller, Shane Zimmerman, Alek Blevins, Tyler Sowards, P.J. Winters, Drew Dutiel, Kyle Keaton and Kahler Rockwell. Valley had the second-most First Teammers with five. The Indians placed Tyler Montavon, Chris Martin, Bryce Romanello, Rodney Spriggs and Cody Charles.

Joining Pelphrey on the SOC I First Team were teammates Shannon Curley and Eldin Sarajlic, New Boston’s Jordan Moore, James Mohr and Billy Nichols. South Webster (Elijah Ruark, Trevor Coriell and Matthew Shonkwiler) tied with Valley (Zack Gahm, Jacob Gibson and Cody Hagler) with the most Second Team selections while Parker Steele and Nate Payton represented the Tigers and Aaron Keyser and Nate Hinze did the same for the Panthers.

For the SOC II First Team, the Tigers also placed Hudson Diener, Luke McAllister, Logan Carter, Austin Lightle, Caleb Moore, Nick Bradley and Andrew Lightle. The remaining First Team honorees went to Minford’s Travis Gampp, Darren Martin, Kurt Newsome, Eli Shoemaker and Grant Piguet, Wheelersburg’s Keith Thurmer, Mark Butler and Matt Boll, Northwest’s Gabe Howard, Drew Scarberry and Curtis Williams as well as West’s Steve Matthews and Jay Pitts.


The SOC II Second Team is comprised of Waverly’s Alex Brown, Trey Swain and Marcus Schiller, the Falcons’ Tommy Hay, Eli Reffit and Jacob Perry, the Pirates’ Ethan Pauley and Ethan McCain, the Mohawks’ Dylan Amburgey and Lee Wartluft and the Senators’ Zach Dials.


The annual senior contest will be noon Saturday at Wheelersburg High School. Awards will be handed out during the festivities.
