A win by the Tigers on their home turf would all but secure another outright championship. A tie or win by the Pirates would create a championship match the following week vs. Minford. They tied 1-1 at Wheelersburg earlier in the year.
Expect a big crowd in Tigertown.
Wheelersburg at Waverly
Re: Wheelersburg at Waverly
Should be another tough game! In addition to the SOC, Waverly needs another notch in their belt to help them secure a little better seed in the tournament. It is interesting that all 3 of Waverly's losses have came on their home turf this year. Hopefully the weather cooperates and the field is not sloppy.
Re: Wheelersburg at Waverly
Even though Waverly has lost 3 at home I would think they would have the advantage since Burg plays on turf. Where have Burg losses been?
Re: Wheelersburg at Waverly
Great game by the Tigers on senior night. Wheelersburg really came out with a lot of energy in the first 20 minutes and got on the board early for a 1-0 advantage. After that Waverly calmed down and really controlled play and tempo for the rest of the game. Freshman James White scored the eqaulizer and Purpero put Waverly up 2-1 on an excellent cross from Diener. The 2nd half was much of the same as Diener and Purpero were just too much on the wings tonight. Excellent distribution and some clinical finishing by the TIgers who had 18 shots and 16 on frame. Caleb Moore was excellent in net as well as he made some crucial saves in the first half. Two very good teams and Waverly just had a little more energy and stamina and wore out the Pirates.
Re: Wheelersburg at Waverly
Waverly was just better across the field in nearly every position in this one. Burg's youth showed after the first 20 minutes. Burg was pumped up and ready to play early, but Waverly has some excellent players with a ton of experience and that experience took over. Good luck in the tournament!
