OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
Re: OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
I look for Wheelersburg boys to start getting some votes. They are now 5-0 and have beaten South Webster, Minford, and Zane Trace
Re: OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
I hope not. Burg is good, very good. Looks to be the best around this year. But lets not confuse that with one of the better teams in the state. The good thing about Boll being gone is there will no longer be some B.S. State ranking or some weak a## defender that makes first team all state.
Every now and again we have a legitimate team that is state ranking worthy. Doesnt happen every year. Hope burg proves me wrong and makes a good run in tourney.

Or just a lesson on how the ossca poll is set up and works. It's on their site if he's interested in reading it
Re: OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
To be fair, it wasn't Coach Boll, he just nominated the teams. It was the other guys voting that always put in a team that he nominated, some very deserving and some not so much. I've been a poll rep for quite of few years, so I know the process and know a lot of the people voting (only 10 per division/gender). We work very hard on trying to get the poll right. After about the 2nd to 3rd week the poll really does take shape. And for the most part the teams in the Regionals/State tournament are state ranked.
And now the 2nd poll is out:

Re: OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
State rankings are really cool and congratulations to burg on being in top 5!
Although, all roads lead to teams like Worthington Christian in the regional and I believe they are undefeated against teams from the district in which burg and the rest of SOC teams are apart of. I believe Webster in 2010 was the closest to beating them and that was a very very talented group of players. Its always cool seeing local teams go far in the tournament, but not many public schools advance past the regional.

Re: OSSCA STATE POLL - Week #1
Level of competition, along with the infrastructure of what it takes to have a perennially successful program, are so different up where Worthington Christian is compared to Southern Ohio.
