Shawnee State has changed from the Mid-South Conference to the River State Conference. Should make for some good games.

About time. The RSC (formerly KIAC) always made more sense anyway.

O yea I agree 100% They would have to travel all the way to the GA for a game. Not to mention the 5 or 6 national rank teams they had to play against too.

I'm sure they miss the AMC. While they weren't competitive in it in soccer, the travel and locality of it made decent sense. The history and the membership of the AMC was wild and rather nice, at the same time. Once it folded, the RSC/KIAC was always a better fit, even just competitively.

Logistically the River States Conference makes the most sense for Shawnee. While the competition in the Mid South was challenging and good for teams who wanted to compete at the top, it hurt having Rio leave as now most, if not all of your travel is a haul.
The AMC was a great Conference and sad that it dissolved, but I think Shawnee will do well in the RSC in all athletic competition. Obviously in soccer, Rio and Tech on the Men's side will be tough to over throw. Shawnee will add more diversity in the women's side as IU East, Point Park, Kokomo & Rio have all been tough teams to beat.

Yes makes a lot more sense for SSU to be in the River States. The competition was great in Mid South but sucks always losing to them. SSU womans team went 10-8-1 last season and if I remember correctly the loses were to all Mid South teams.

Sounds like to me they should have upgraded the out of conference schedule as it didn't prepare them for a tough conference.
3 of the 7 games were challenging..
8-0
9-1
1-0
7-0
1-1
2-1
10-1

Or, get the wins when you can, because you know the conference is too challenging to get the wins right away? Or, possibly the opponents made sense since the budget probably only permits so much travel. Even if they wanted to host opponents, the stronger opponents will look to schedule stronger non-conference away as well. There's a whole load of possibilities on it.
Some of those wins were against future RSC opponents too.

Pretty quiet over there. Sounds like the need for a new coach -- through the rumor mill.
Of course, silence in Portsmouth for this one. Just like they did in hiring the departing coach.
Could Shawnee State go the direction of Rio and add football as well?

There was a small uproar when the british lady took over, but seemed like she did a great job. Good luck to her in the future.
I believe they have an interim head coach rn- some random dude. Get him out- time for SSU to make an investment on program's future.

Natasha was really good for the program. I think she had a lot on her plate though having to do both teams. What I’ve heard is the university wasn’t very kind to her upon leaving. Better opportunity for her at a bigger school in Delaware though. My thinking is Cadogan is putting people he wants in place as the new AD. Already seen that with softball & swimming.

Yes I always like Natasha but from the stuff I have heard, which I take with a grain of salt, not many of the players really cared for her as a coach. I guess she acted bi-polar from my understanding which I could be completely wrong. When she left none of the girls was really going to get her anything from my understanding, which I was told only a few girls really did anything to get a party together for her. Yes coaching both team had to be extremely hard on her, from my understanding she liked to micromanage everything.

Typical from the joke of an athletic department that it is, still ZERO about Shawnee State publicly.
No coaching change announcement. The job hasn't even been publicly posted. It's been known to be open since 4/3, and publicly it's been open since 5/15.
It's no wonder the place has been a doormat for so long.

More than likely they are waiting until July 1 to open it up for the new Fiscal Year. It doesn't give the new coach a whole lot of time and basically gives them a team with someone else's recruiting class.

A mid-summer hire for a fall sport... the candidate pool isn't going to be stellar

That does not prevent them from posting the job, or interviews, or even hiring. It happens regularly, and coaches know what to expect in situations like that (if it were the case). They didn't even do an exhaustive search when Natasha was hired to coach both after she was already the women's coach.
One has to wonder too, will they look at adding football since Rio has done the same?

It is a possibility since, they now have Spartan Stadium? Correct? I may be wrong.
IF the goal was to go to DII in the future, football may make sense (especially in the GMAC which they would probably be a good fit for all sports.)

On a positive note...both men's and women's jobs were posted on the SSU website a week ago! The search has now begun.

Have the teams been training as a group? Wild to think they lost a spring and summer of work
