Big game for Waverly tomorrow night at home vs Wheelersburg. The JV game should be interesting also as Burg will challenge the undefeated Jr. Tigers.

Waverly has lost one game this season I've been told. (Southeastern Panthers)

toast: You are correct! Waverly is 10-0 in all matches and 7-0 in conference play.

They swept all 7 conference matches and also 2 non-league matches with Clay and Piketon.

Southeastern took game 1 from them only to allow the Tigers to come back and win the best 2 out of 3 match.

Notre Dame host Eastern tonight... ND's crowd has been known to get inside an opponents head , SUPER cheer block , would be a huge upset but after last spring in hoops I'm sure Eastern won't overlook ND

ND's cheering sections is always, loud but I doubt ND will come close to beating Eastern. THe volleyball team is at a totally different talent level the the basketball team at Eastern.

Agreed, ND won't even come close to winning a set tonight. I also heard that their "cheer" block isn't the best of them. Heard far too many people from different schools saying that they don't exactly "cheer". Guess we will find out.

heard them several times and while i don't even understand every chant they do the one's I've heard are just good clean fun. great testament to the school spirit of the ND students. as been stated a zillion times , ND is a very small school , to have 40 kids in a cheer block at a VB game in the SOC1 is pretty dang good. MD

run-n-gun , if what they are doing isn't cheering then what is it ? should we have girls in skirts doing coordinated jumps, head nods and flips to call it cheering ?

Haha Manitou, that would be quite a scene there! But I had just heard around that some fans/parents were very upset when they played @ ND. I wouldn't know, because I wasn't at those games. It is always great to have support!

I wasn't there either but have been at several other games, the cheer block gets loud and cheers hard , screams loud , and just has a great time in general. they got so loud i guess clay's coach could not communicate with her players, but thats not Nd's problem...... aaaaaah the love affair between the two schools continue LOL MD (fwiw I know some kids from Clay, they seem to be wonderful young ladies)

I heard Clay and ND play some really good games, fighting for 2nd place in the SOC and being close to each other can probably bring on a good rivalry.

Going into the last 3 weeks of the Conference Season it appears that SOC2 is a 2 horse race with the title Waverly's to lose.

South Webster is playing much better lately as they have made some adjustments and improved defensively. It will be interesting to see how they finish the regular season heading into the tournament!

SOC champs

2008---South Webster
2009---Valley
2010---Wheelersburg
2011---Waverly ???

The second match-up between 8-0 Waverly and 7-1 South Webster is on October 6th in Waverly.

Good Luck to all SOC teams as the second half of the season is upon us!

long way to go between now and end of league play...Tigers and Webster both have obstacles to overcome between now and then.... good luck to all and looking forward to an exciting 2011 second half of the season!

svbt112: Enjoy your post and insight......keep it coming!

I like the balance we're seeing in the SOC. Not just in volleyball but most of the sports. Different schools winning league titles is a good thing in my view.

We'll see how Waverly responds to being state ranked and leading at the midway point. No flying under the radar, that's for sure. The Tigers play four sophomores much of the time. It will be interesting to see how they respond. We do have a nice group of seniors that are good leaders. That should help.

Eastern and Valley participated in the Eastern Invitational this morning/afternoon. Eastern went 2-0, defeating Piketon then North Adams, to take 1st Place.
Valley went 1-1, losing to North Adams in 2 close games, then defeating Piketon in 2 close games, taking 3rd Place.

toast: thank you! I definitely have a south webster bias, but I am trying to post on this thread like a reporter and not like the parent that I am.

Tuesday's schedule:

South Webster @ Oak Hill
Minford @ Waverly
Valley @ Northwest
Burg @ West

Have to think that Valley @ Northwest is the best match-up of the night.
