Valley wins at Northwest 25-20 ,25-15, 27-25..
Valley played well.
Northwest was ahead 18-9 in the third game before Valley roared back.
Lots of errors by NW before any changes were made. Too late.

Wow! Didn't see that one coming!

Northwest has swept Wheelersburg in 3 and lost to Minford and Oak Hill in 5.

Standings after 5 weeks with 2 weeks to go:

Waverly 10-0
South Webster 9-1
Valley 6-4
Wheelersburg 6-4
Northwest 3-7
Oak Hill 3-7
Minford 2-8
West 1-9

Next week could be the decisive week in the conference and is definitely a huge week for the ladies from South Webster------the Lady Jeeps are at Burg on Tuesday and at Waverly on Thursday.

IMO the SOC1 has been boring as all get out..... Eastern kills everyone, Clay and ND kill everyone but Eastern , and the only close matchup is between the two. the rest of the matches have been so one sided it's just boring. maybe beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'm not much on VB .

Manitou dan: SOC1 has been down in volleyball and basketball for several years.

Exceptions to this are Eastern and Clay in volleyball. Eastern more consistently, but Clay has had some good years too.

Eastern has been to the Regional Final twice in the past 10 years and Clay has won a district championship as well.

Both years that Eastern was in the Regional Final they had a legitimate chance to advance but came up just short.

In girls basketball I can't remember the last time a SOC1 girls team had a legitimate shot in a Regional game.

The best sport for SOC1 is softball-----by FAR!

Your school---Notre Dame has just recently picked it up a notch in volleyball and basketball. Hopefully they will continue to get better and make SOC1 better as a whole.

Western went to a regional final about 15 years ago in volleyball as well, but haven't made much noise lately.

By the way, NO team from the SOC had EVER advanced to the Final 4 in volleyball.

You do a great job on the vollyball updates svbt1112.
I am, of course, more interested in the lady Jeeps but I like hearing about the other area teams as well.

I may not post much on the vollyball forum, but I am always reading! ;-)

Correction is noted! I was trying to brag on Eastern's program so the fact they made the Regional Final 3 times in the last 10 years is even more impressive!

the fact that last year Eastern was in game 5 of a Regional Final and the other time I remembered when Adena beat them and I am pretty sure it went to game 5....they didn't just show up and get blown out in a regional semifinal......Impressive!

2008 South Webster defeated Eastern in 5 in the Regional Semi and then were defeated by Newark Catholic in the Regional Finals in 3.......the Lady Jeeps weren't blown out though as all 3 games were even at 20 or 21 and then Newark Catholic finished and the Lady Jeeps couldn't quite get over the top. I remember thinking how close we were..........and I know soon one of our teams will make it over that hump and play at Wright St in the Final 4.

Jeep80.... I knew you were reading! The Lady Jeeps are improving and should be a very tough out in the tournament. This is a huge week for the team as they play Burg tonight---Waverly Thursday and Alexander tournament Saturday---all on the road. We will see how they measure up and it will be a good tune-up for the tournament road.

Just a little more bit of info on Beaver Eastern:
They have gone to the regionals 4 times in the last 10 years (04, 08,09, 10) and were in the regional finals in 3 of those: 04, 09, 10. So, maybe some day, they will get over that hump....

This is from the history page of the sport in the winter sports program:

Since volleyball was established in the late 70's, Eastern Beaver has gone to the regionals 12 times. 4 times with Becky Pendell, 1 time with Neil Leist and 7 times with Coach Day. There has only been 5 varsity coaches in the school history!
