Then apperantly you believe Eastern can play sloppy enough to lose 25-15 and 25-9 on thier own accord, "tons of errors" is how I believe you put it. OK, I can except you believe that. Does anyone else think they can play that sloppy, especially two entire games in a row? I posted about this game the day after the result and I think I wrote "volleyball is crazy!"
Eastern is such a good team because they play Great Defense, like each other, have great quickness, and enough power to hurt you. They are very, very well coached and play with enthusiasm and passion.
South Webster is completely different----right now they aren't playing consistently great defense, they do like each other, don't have great quickness, but have more power than anyone they have played so far. With that said they have lost 3 matches because if you can't play defense and pass the ball----your power is irrelevant. I also know that when Webster blocks well they play well----everything changes when they block well. Game 3 vs Eastern they started blocking well----Eastern had to change some things with their hitting---Webster gained confidence and all of a sudden started receiving serve well and simply outpowered Eastern at the net.
Eastern won't beat themselves---in that way I agree with ESully....... but they are smart enough and quick enough to cover so much they can frustrate the snot out of you! Next thing you know they start hitting some and you lose 25-14.... Webster has lost 3 matches and truly are their own worst enemy and have beaten themselves more than the opponent has. I also think when Webster played Eastern that regardless of which game it was South Webster dictated the points----Eastern didn't give South Webster any more points in games 3 and 4 then they did in 1 or 2.......Eastern doesn't give away hardly any points, but force you to score or error.
If Webster gets their defense together (which I believe they can) then they have the greatest upside.........they have more firepower----and the deeper you go in the tournament sooner then later you have to be able to out-gun someone.

I agree jumparound, Volleyball can be crazy, momentum changes fast!
Nice post svbt112, the Eastern girls are competitors! They have 4 freshmen and 4 juniors in their starting rotation, all with a lot of club experience. When the freshemn settle into their roles, watch out.
And you do win with defense and power!

Okay, when it comes to Eastern, this is a team that is relying on its defense right now more than anything. Keeping the ball going and giving the younger players an opportunity to makes some plays. Freshman rarely step up to Varsity and play at an All-Ohio level. Rarely.
When it comes to South Webster, this is a team that can hit. Really good. But, they don't have a quick defense, and they just aren't a defensive team. Their hitting needs no more improvement. It's there. The defense and serve receive is what is missing. It shows.

Wow....it's hot in here!
Goodness people, do some of you live on here just waiting for something that could be deemed a negative if read a certain way? Esully,why so defensive, I have complemented SW and they greatly deserved it....but you got so mad at my "looks like Eastern being Eastern" comment you couldn't even keep your facts straight in your post. All I meant was Eastern as I think most of us on here agree is a team we believe to see in the regionals more years than not, and making state wouldn't be much of a surprise....they regularly beat teams far worse than 25-14....it was not a slam on SW, it was a complement to Eastern and what they have built and do every year.
Saying SW beat 25-9 and Eastern played as well in games 1 and 2 as they did in that game is a touch silly.
SW is one of the few teams in the district that could beat any other team in the district. They are the best hitting team that I have seen and look to be very athletic and extremely well-coached.
Eastern is Eastern....and that is a huge complement, especially with their rotation age.

On your very last sentence, about the Final Four.
This year, I don't think a team from our area will accomplish that in D4. But next year, if Eastern doesn't make State, it will be surprising actually. They are going to be better next year, with every single player in the whole program coming back. So this year is actually a down year for them, and they are still playing as one of the best teams.

Ironman you have me wrong, I'm not upset about anything. I was mearly trying to point out that without much of a volley or even a decent serve receive for much of the first two games the win for Eastern had little to do with Eastern being Eastern and more to do with Webster not performing as they should. As far as Eastern not playing well in games 3 and 4 I don't see it. Those games had good long volleys Eastern dug the ball out repeatedly, Webster blocked well and counter attacked well. Is it too much to think a team can beat Eastern like that without them playing bad? You say yourself they are in a building year. Still I'm not mad just can't get around what I saw right in front of me. The way I see it long volleys ,points awarded the team that held the volleys longest wins by playing well not by the other teams poor play.

As long as Eastern played like Eastern, then they won. They won the game. That is all that matters. You have to be able to win 3 sets out of 5, and Eastern did. It's settled and over with. Now lets see how the rest of the season plays out.
