Yes last year they broke in 4 freshman straight into the rotation. They struggled for a while but definitely improved as the season progressed. This could be a season to remember for them.
And yes I was at that match, and I've never seen a better game in my life. Both those teams were more than capable of representing at state, and TCC just got it. I would love to see a state matchup of these two schools this season.
Adena summer tournament
Re: Adena summer tournament
As much as this might surprise some folks, Adena might not be that good this year. They return only one all-around player from last season, are VERY young and inexperienced at the varsity level, have a new setter, lost two All Ohioans and an all conference back-row player. Word is they also are missing three players from last season that have decided not to return this year. Very well could be the year to take-down the Warriors from their perch!!
Re: Adena summer tournament
I hope the AC is working at Adena. I heard it will be 100 degrees tomorrow.
And yes, maybe TCC will face Eastern in the state semifinal match. But we have to get by a very tough Kidron Central Christian team first. They are very good and they are BIG!
See you all in Frankfort tomorrow.

Re: Adena summer tournament
2EZ, well i was spot on with my prediction that Pool C was the toughest as Bishop Ready lost to Shekinah Christian in the gold semi and Shekinah wins it all. Beaver Eastern wins the Silver and Chillicothe wins the bronze with Unioto at 2nd in bronze, so all 5 teams in pool C beat up on each other in pool play and pretty much clean up in tourney round. Good volleyball all day and we all stayed out of the hottest day heat since 1936. Adena put on a great tourney with facilty, game management, concessions, and most importantly, competition. Thanks Coach Smith and staff.

Great day of volleyball at Adena. SVCsportszone.com has a recap, pictures, and Shoutomatic updates from the entire day. You can find all the various links on the homepage of the website at www.svcsportszone.com
Re: Adena summer tournament
boo: you were right pool c was very tough all day. TCC laid a big fat egg against Adena in the semi final match and deserved to lose that match. But, on a positive note, the coaches saw alot of girls playing different spots and will definitely make some adjustments to the personnel and linup. I hope we can come back and play better the rest of the summer. Alot of volleyball ahead of all of us. Overall it was a great tournament with better teams than the previous years and that is what we want. Who wants to travel 3 hours and beat the panys off of every team? No, good competition makes everyone better. We are looking to play the best and try to beat the best. A great day of volleyball and a nice tournament by the hosts of Adena.
Only criticism: the concession stand ran out of chicken and noodles at noon and bottled water by 2 pm! More sales means more profits and more money for the Adena volleyball program.

Re: Adena summer tournament
Overall I believe this tournament was a success for every participant. The players got to experience some quality action before season starts, and these teams will be ready come season. Here's just some thoughts for what I saw with some teams.
Adena-overall a good team. Not as good as years past, but still good. Will most likely capture the SVC title and make a good run.
Alexander-surprised they made Gold, but they are much improved from last season.
Shekinah Christian-wow, are they good. this team will go far, real far. they have great fundamental play and their passing is excellent. they run a pretty aggressive offense, and they have a few players that can kill it.
Bishop Ready-another quality team at the tournament. they really use the block well. should have a good run in the tournament.
TCC-a lot of new faces out on the court, but still good players. will be a force throughout the season once they settle on a rotation. the girl that sets/plays middle is going to be key for them. hopefully she leads this team, she is a great player with a bright future and loads of experience.
Unioto-a team that has some skilled players. very inconsistent in my opinion, but can put together a good game and play with anybody. should finish close behind Adena.
Eastern Reedsville-down from last year, but still good. made Silver and lost to Eastern Beaver in the first round. watching them, they have height and some hitters, but their coverage seems to be too tight to the net for my liking.
Logan Elm-surprised by this team. they have gotten much better. they should have a pretty good season.
Eastern Beaver-took two losses to Bishop and Shekinah in pool. from what i caught, they played well in their tournament games. surprised by the results against Reedsville.
Overall, what I'm most looking forward to this year is the Division 4 regional up at Lancaster. Not only should both Eastern Reedsville and Beaver be there, but Shekinah Christian should return there this year as well. And I'm sure the fourth team will be very good as well. Whichever team comes from that regional has a real shot.

Run-n- gun
Good read on Unioto.
They have O seniors on the team and only one junior who has a varsity letter in volleyball. The bulk of the team is sophomores, 4 of which did play big roles on last years team.
I think they will have nights when they play with best the SVC has to offer and then there will be some games when people are asking "How could Unioto lose to them". Â
Hopefully by tournament time this team comes into their own and makes a respectable showing.
Adena is still the class of the SVC.
Probably gold ball again but look for some 4 and maybe a 5 set matches this season for Adena.
Adena will win it again with pressure coming from Westfall and Huntington.
