2012 Season

Post by run-n-gun »

Let's get ready for next season! Who is gonna be good? I see Adena, Eastern Meigs and Pike, and South Webster. Who else? Thoughts.

Did Waverly lose most of their players? Nelsonville?

BTW....you didn't even make it out onto the branch!

I believe Waverly only lost 2 players, so they should still be good. Don't know too much about Nelsonville. And yes, Huntington and Unioto both should be very good. I can see Huntington having a strong season.

And ironman, i was just trying to get talk going. I could've listed a whole bunch of teams! :122245

Nelsonville-York sounds to be very good next year. Eastern Pike returns their whole lineup. What does Eastern Reedsville and Adena return or lose?

Reedsville Eastern loses Brenna Holter, Jamie Swatzel, Brooke Johnson, Baylee Collins. They will still be very good next year but the rotation will be much thinner. Maddie Rigsby,Jordan Parker, and Ally Hendrix will play the entire rotation. Gabby Hendrix I believe will be the labero(??) Erin Swatzel will be huge at the net. They wont be as good as their state team this year but should still win the Hocking and make a good tournament run. There are rumors that Caldwell would like to return as head coach but nobody knows what that situation holds.

No matter who Reedsville loses, them, along with Beaver and Webster are going to be the tops next year.

According to the coach picks, Waverly only lost one player and should have another SOC Championship.

If I had to rank a top 5 for next season, I would go like this.

1) Adena
2) Eastern Pike / Nelsonville-York
4) Huntington
5) Eastern Reedsville

Honestly, these could go in any order, with Unioto, Webster, Waverly, and others possibly sliding in around 3. Toss up between Pike and York. Anybody else have thoughts?

Unioto had 6 seniors on the roster this past year they also lose All-League junior outside hitter Sid Colman. The extremely talented freshman class is dealing with some injuries that will take a few of them out of the club season and into the summer before they are back to full speed play. We will have to wait and see how the Shermans overcome these set backs before we can claim them as one of the top teams in the area.

I see Eastern Pike as the best team coming out of the SE Ohio area for next year. Adena loses their big middle and Eastern Reedsville loses a ton of seniors. No matter what they have coming back, it will be an adjustment for the new incoming players. So my pick from the SE will be Eastern Pike to make it to the regional finals. Though Adena will be down, i think they will be better than Huntington, Unioto, and Wheelersburg.

Eastern Reedsville had a very nice team this year. Saw them at state and was particularly impressed with their libero and setter. They both dug alot of hard hit balls. Not sure they had come up against the type of blocking that TCC presented to them. But Howie had a nice season.

Too bad if he doesn't return. Does he have an assistant that would step in? A program can go down hill very quickly when coaches change every year or two.

What do the they have coming back? maybe he wants to leave while "on top". Will lose a nice group of seniors this year.

Unioto and Huntington will challenge for the SVC title, but as long as Laura Smith is at Adena I would not pick against them...should be a great year!

Nelsonville York should win the TVC this year very easily. Wouldn't surprise me if they went undefeated in the league. It wouldn't surprise me if they went undefeated overall
