Re: Coaches attire
with spandex and the new fitted tops....players do not have to worry about their baggy uniforms getting in the net. Also when diving spandex are more practical. Some shorts depending on their length can get in the way of proper diving and then getting back up. I personally like playing in spandex better....I would have played basketball in spandex if I could have. I know some girls do not try out because of the uniform but other sports have uniforms that are tight. Swimmers, softball or baseball, football, track uniforms.

Re: Coaches attire
I have to agree that some teams spandex are way too short. However spandex are the norm. College and pro athletes have wear spandex and now high schools are following. And before anyone says these are not college or pro athletes, I know that but we see this in every sport. We are beginning to see track athletes wearing body suits like the pros and college athletes. If the spandex arent too short then I see no problem with wearing spandex.

Re: Coaches attire
If thats the case football and baseball players don't need to wear tight fitting pants. There are girls who sit in the stands at games deciding who has the nicest butt. Spandex are norm in uniforms. I liked playing in spandex better. I know many girls who absolutely love playing in spandex and wear them to run in and would probably play other sports in. I understand this is high school and that some girls do not want to wear spandex therefore do not play volleyball but same goes for cheerleaders and swimmers and other sports. If the school has decided that spandex uniforms are appropriate then we shouldn't be arguing about it. School officials decided they were fine.

You may laugh but a few tenths of second off a time thanks to less wind resistance is make it or break it in track and if you HATE...and I mean HATE to lose like I do any help would be nice
Dont give me this crap about how its just high school or junior high....thats BS! It may not get anywhere near the publicity as college track and field or any other sport but that doesnt mean they arent gonna try as hard as they can to win; looking for any way, legal that is, to gain an edge on the competition.

If I recall correctly Australia's women's national basketball team did wear spandex uniforms. I would have loved to play basketball in spandex. Spandex are not new to the game of volleyball, just in this area they are. And as to how it impacts volleyball less in the net calls with spandex. Those fewer calls can make the difference in a tight game.

Eaglesnest wrote:OK, point taken in track. How does it impact volleyball? Point is this...your right to an "advantage" stops if it is abusive or obscene to others. Track is outside and spectators are rarely that close to the athletes. Girls volleyball is close quarters.
Why don't basketball players wear spandex? Isn't it an advantage to be quicker on the court?
Girls race on the same days as guys do and some guys wear speed suits and you can see "everything" in those and yet Ive heard no complaints from "emotionally distraught" people. If we listened to every 80yr old religious woman then we would have no sports at all because something in them would strike her as inappropriate. Athletes are their to compete for themselves and their teams regardless of how they look in the eyes of others. When I throw discus I have to wear really really short shorts and even though I wear spandex under them I couldnt careless what others think because they have no input on how I handle myself on and off the track.
What about swimmers why are they allowed to wear tight swimsuits and speedos??? Its the same frickin concept! The less resisitance the faster you will go. Nobody wants to see a 15-18yr old boys wedding tackle but its a part of the sport
I think all those who are offended by how athletes dress should keep it to themselves. Maybe Im offended by them, they ever think of that. Maybe I see them all dressed up in their t-shirts and jeans thinkin how dare they wear that!
