I heard Waverly beat them in one or two scrimmages. Is that true?

If I remember correctly we played several sets, but I believe Eastern won overall. Correct me if Im wrong. Waverly has a very nice team also. Eastern was also trying different rotations as most schools do pre-season.

At the first scrimmage, Waverly did beat them the first 3 out of 5 games with one middle hitter out. Then lost the next 3 when the other middle hitter left.

The second scrimmage Waverly won 2 out 3.

I believe there is no doubt that Reedsville Eastern is a quality team. That first weekend Athens tournament win made a believer out of me.

Their schedule after that weekend left little question they would have an undefeated regular season.

How they respond once they are tested again (and it probably won't be until Regional semifinals if they are #1 seeded in the East) will be the question.

(the #1 seed in the East will more than likely avoid South Webster and the other Eastern in the districts)

I have Eastern (15-0), (9-0 TVC-Hocking) on the trivalleyconference.com web site ...

But Waterford (11-3), (8-1 TVC-Hockinhg), like always, is right their as well.

I havn't looked at the tournament brackets yet; but both Waterford & Eastern are usually grouped together - so a 'test' may come earlier than the regional finals.

Bulldog93:

I expect that Reedsville and Waterford will play in the district finals----the brackets aren't up yet, but that is what my crystal ball says so I have to go with it.

I also believe that if you asked Howie he would tell you that he would much rather play Waterford in the district finals than South Webster or Beaver Eastern.

Both Southeast District Champions have to face a Central District Champion in the Regional Semis----therefore the Regional Semis will be stern tests for whichever teams advance from our district---especially the team that draws Shekinah Christian. It would be awesome if the Southeast duo could sweep that night in Lancaster and ensure that an area team would represent in the Final 4!

Didn't Shekinaw Christian just handle Adena?

Yes, Ironman. Shekinah rocked Adena and beat Courthouse as well. It was a Saturday match and sometimes teams don't play up to par, but nevertheless, Shekinah's a top-quality team. Should be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Shekinah has to be the favorite to Final 4 from that Regional....all the pressure is on them.
Even though Newark Catholic isn't up to their usual level of play this year, I believe that their tradition and track record in the Lancaster Regional is intimidating to some, and that could play a factor this year.
Either Eastern team is capable of pulling an upset should they be the ones to represent their district at the regional level.

I have to agree that Shekinah is the favorite. But they play these games for a reason. I think we will see some very exciting District Final and Regional games this year.

The Eastern Eagles showed me something that I have never witnessed; a volleyball set with a final score, 25-0. That set was followed by 22 in a row that was ended, in my opinion, by a blown call at the net. The up ref called the MH on an excellent block/dig by calling it a double hit. 45 staight points, just shouldn't happen. Feel badly for the loosing team.

Wow! I saw a 15-1 score when it was still rally scoring but that was jr high. Could the losing team not serve recieve or hit the ball?

Digger, I don't have the stats, but I wouldn't be surprised if the ace percentage for those points was not 40% or greater. The serve returns, when they were able to pass, were weak and typically resulted in a free ball, which were greeted with pass - set -kill. The event was interesting to witness but it was not enjoyable. When the level of play between two teams is so vastly different, the game, like any sport, really loses its appeal. The Eastern girls were simply playing the game as they are accustomed to doing and that was the result.

I'm with you on it not being an enjoyable game. The difference in skill level from around the area amazes me sometimes. It does not help a really good team to play a team that plays what we call "barn ball". I feel sorry for the not so good teams but you have to play them if they are in your league and you can't back off your game.

Good luck the rest of your season and hope to see you at the districts!

Thanks, you all are doing great and hope to see you at districts.

Big match in the TVC tomorrow night; the second Eastern/Waterford match @ Waterford.

Waterford is a tough place to play, our girls will have to be on their game to get out with a victory. The Waterford gym has a permanent VB net, so far it is the only one that I've seen. The net and #1 Ref platform, hinge up and out of the way for other sports, similar to what basketball backboards do. The girls say, not having the post is a distraction.

Go Eagles and Jeeps!!

The only other VB standards like that in this district are at Southeastern in Ross County.

Nice job Lady Eagles! Ranked 6th in the coach's poll!
