Just a warning to anyone from Scioto County or Zane Trace thinking about trying out for Spiketown volleyball, don't waste your time and money. We took our daughter to try out for the 13U team last weekend. There were 36 girls trying out in that age group. Out of 36 girls, 33 were offered a contract, only cutting 3 girls. These 3 girls were 1 from Northwest and 2 from Zane Trace. Our daughter is a talented volleyball player, the director even admitted that she was one of the best at serving in tryouts. We're not the type of parents who think our children are the best at everything. I know our daughter wasn't the best player at tryouts, but she was absolutely not one of the 3 worst! They have 4 teams, 3 with 8 girls and 1 with 9. Why would they not put her, and the other girls on the teams with 8 girls. I don't believe that everyone who tries out for a team should make the team, but when a girl is obviously better than half the girls at tryouts, she should be placed on a team, not cut just because she's not local.

I'm not surprised by this. My daughter played for Spiketown last year but not this year. It was a complete waste of time. They do take everyone local (even if the girls are not good) so their teams are not competitive. They have parents, that are not qualified, as coaches so the girls don't learn a thing. Even if you are not from Scioto County, don't waste your time.

I guess no one cared about the above statements, because the tryouts were loaded..........A ton of kids were there............

I was told the same.
I know they made some major improvements in coaching this year.

We're from Scioto County, and my daughter made the 13u team. She's excited and looking forward to getting started.

Emma Ryan needs to be on that team.
