Post any sectional scores here.
I know Wheelersburg defeated Fairland in 3. Not sure what the game scores were.

Valley beats Peebles in 3 and I know Minford won.
Anyone heard about the Huntington-Northwest game should have been a good one?

Looks like there are going to be a couple of good SOC2 rematches. Wish they weren't in Athens. You have Minford versus Valley and Burg versus Northwest......it would be nice if these local teams could play a little more locally!

pirate4life....Athens — as is the case with other schools hosting district games — is a predetermined site before the tournament draw is even held.
It just so worked out that the draws involving Wheelersburg, Northwest, Minford and Valley turned out the way they did where the good possibility of them playing each other in the district round play existed.

i understand the seeding but i think the first 2 games could be at the higher seeded school regardless. it just doesnt seem that much thought goes into this tournament and that volleyball is an afterthought to the ohhsaa. it honestly doesnt make much sense that we have to go to athens to play minford when we could play minford at home or even at waverly which is centrally located for most of them teams in this bracket. athens is ridiculous

these are predetermined sites...
while i would agree athens is not typically a centrally located site since most of the div iii schools advancing year in and year out are from the chillicothe or portsmouth areas (this year 8 out of 12 and 9/12 if you count oak hill who is a member of the soc...alexander the only one near athens...the other two are north adams and ironton)
...jackson or waverly would be great sites (nice, large gyms)...but i would also have to admit i have heard it is hard to find schools to host these events...and jackson and waverly already host basketball events...

OU are you a coach or AD somewhere ? you seem pretty knowledgeble about this ? so do the schools request they host the tourney or does the ohsaa pick based just on the availability of gyms?

...no
...just a follower of volleyabll...and most of the info can be found at the seodab.org site or wkkj.com site...
from talking to people supposedly in the know over the years...the district board asks schools to host...then based on location of school, site conditions, etc. they select a school (trust me there are very few options)...once a school gets to host...the board typically doesn't change unless something happens...
ask a coach or AD or one of the district board members (tony mantell from clay...mark knapp of wheelersburg...staggs of new boston...penn of western...all from the soc)
