Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
Lefty, I was wondering the same thing. If I recall, voting was split last year between an Alex player and someone whose team wasn't even .500. Really doesn't make sense.
Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
Nothing against the Ohio Div MVP, but I just cannot imagine that anybody from a 4 - 8 team could be the most valuable player in the division. The term MVP should go to the player that went the extra mile to make her team successful. If the object of the game remains to win then four wins and eight losses is not success.
Last year Hocking Div MVP was shared. One recipient was out most of the season with an injury and her team finished very near the bottom of the division as well.
In some cases it looks like MVP is reserved for a decent player on a non-winning team. The TVC must have some really weird selection criteria for MVP. Maybe the league leadership should consider renaming the award or creating another one that is consistent with some of their selections.

Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
I am pretty sure that MVP is voted on by coaches, and the TVC Ohio MVP was a unanimous win, so I guess the coaches saw something in this player. Maybe that is why they coach and you don't
Congrats to all the girls!
Congrats to all the girls!
Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
This is why these coaches can't get out of the Sectionals & Districts. They don't know what to look for on the opposite of the net. Bad call hateraid!

Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
Ofcourse you also realize that the majority of schools in Ohio do not make it out of sectionals and districts if you really want to get technical. Just a thought. I do think the southeastern part of the state has done better the last few years.

Bad call to congratulate a group of girls for a job well done???? I am the one who is supposed to be hate-in', lefty!!
I never got to see the Graves girl play, but heard she has a nasty power hit. How many times did you wtch her??
Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
My comment was not at all about the Graves girl, I have seen her play and she really can bring it. My comment was about designating a league's most valuable player from a non-competitive team. If a team has the best hitter in the league yet still is not competitive, then what makes that player the leagues' most valuable? If the award was for the "best hitter" then fine, but most valuable is my question.
In the TVC Hocking; Eastern's setter was awarded MVP. Eastern (my daughter's team) is the league champion and did not have very effective passing. With passing not being a strong point, they were able to overcome and still have an offense that was, for the most part, able to outscore their opponents. Between weak passing and a strong offense is a setter that worked very hard to produce a league championship. In that I can see MVP.

Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
hater, I also saw her play a few times & it is not about her, it's about the MVP of the league. The best girl in the Ohio division is the Els girl from Alex, period.

Re: TVC Final Standings and All-League Selections
How can she be "just" honorable mention? Take the vote away from these people, it's a disgrace. Not just her, what about the Noe girl from GAHS?
