Does anyone know how this line up is decided? I dont have any complaint but can find no logical reason for the match ups, based on last years standings. I don't know why, but some times I just gotta know!

I'm just guessing, but I think it's just a rotating schedule from year to year, not based on how the teams finished the previous year.

I think the best game will most likely be Waverly v. Eastern. It's the only match-up that has 2 teams with high expectations this season really. Then I think Wheelersburg and Notre Dame might be a good one, then along with Webster and Clay.
Is this the actual order of the matches as well??

Im not sure there's any rhyme or reason. I know that at one preview it was done by previous year finish but it may just be the luck of the draw. Looking forward to volleyball.

Wheelersburg, from what I have heard, is supposed to have a down year. Could be a good preview for Notre Dame.

From Memory-----and the older I get the less I remember......
Valley over Western
Burg over Notre Dame
Oak Hill and Symmes Valley split
Northwest and New Boston ????
West and East ????
Webster over Clay
Minford and Green ???? Minford won game 1 can't remember game 2
Eastern over Waverly
Eastern is Definitely the class of SOC1.

Northwest beat New Boston and West beat East. Minford won both against Green.
From looks, Burg, Webster and Waverly will be the top of II. Then Minford and Valley will compete.
Then in I, Eastern has an easy sweep through, with Clay and Notre Dame following. But watch Green and New Boston, they managed to make volleys last somehow, and scored a lot of points.

im glad no one thinks Valley has anything ....they beat all the teams mentioned at the Shawnee camp with the exception of of south webster because they werent there ...with only 6 girls and were eventually beaten by waverly after playing multiple games on the last day they hit a wall ......so we will see ......i agree they absolutely did not play well at the previews but who cares about the previews

Does anyone know if any media had coverage on previews. I did not see Portsmouth Times or Community Commons at the preview! Sixteen local Schools in one place and no media coverage, this can't be!

Didn't see any media coverage nor were any programs of all teams provided at the previews.

It's pretty sad, and it would explain why the rest of the state thinks there is no volleyball south of 70 or east of 71. The communities don't support the volleyball programs. Truth is it might be out of ignorance. I am a local grad from 1982 and back then volleyball was slow and tedious, now it's fast paced and very aggressive. When my daughter entered 7th grade I went and watched the high school play (South Webster) and was amazed at the speed of the game. They had a great team then (as they do now) they had hitters and great defense and ran a fast offence. The game has evolved into runs of momentum and sometimes rapid lead changes with bodies being thrown to dig balls and violent clashes between blockers and hitters as each tries to gain control of the front lines. If you have skilled teams facing off it can be a very intense night of competition, but without the community support these skilled teams are few and far between in Southern Ohio. I always enjoyed playing for fun but was never a big supporter when I was in school, but the way the game is played today it’s hard not to become passionate about it. If you truly enjoy a great athletic battle that is fast and aggressive and played with passion and reckless abandon at times...Volleyball can provide this for you. If you think it's boring, let me send you to a match between two good teams and then let me know if you still think it’s boring! Southern Ohio...Embrace the sport and support our teams or forever endure the long grueling seasons of disappointment and long boring nights.

Great point Esully63. My girl played at Minford from 1997-2000 and there was very little mention of VB in the local paper and I even contacted the Times about the lack of coverage. Good teams then but better teams now with several teams in our area having a good shot at going far this year in the tournaments. I go to games as often as possible and applaud the kills, digs, etc. of both teams. My daughter still plays in a Waverly league even though she is married and has two kids. We love the game.
