Should be another great year for SEOAL volleyball. Who is going to rise to the top this year? Warren lost several senior hitters but should still have a good program under first year head coach Dan Anderson.

With a new coach at Warren and i hear Gallia also has a new coach, who is it and what is his/her background. it should be a competitive league. If Logan kept Coach Brooks, they will be better, just had no stability the last several years, always have athletes. Coach Martin is back at Jackson and has some talent to work with. Not sure what Portsmouths situation is but the new coach from last year seemed to be headed in the right direction, just may take some patience to build the program. Coach Wrightsel and staff are back at Chillicothe and look to keep driving the program to the next level.

Sophmore setter Anna DeGarmo of Chillicothe High School won one of 5 awards given out at The University of Dayton " Future Flyers " volleyball camp recently. Hustle, game knowledge, and skills were determining award factors. Great job Anna!

Great tri match at Lancaster today. It had a tournament feel to it all day. Fast pace, good, clean volleyball. The officials did an excellent job and said it was some great volleyball. Chillicothe lost to Lancaster 25-21, 22-25, 23-25 and then beat Dublin Scioto 17-25, 25-19, 25-19. lancaster vs Dublin Scioto were starting the 1st set of the final match as we left so not sure of outcome there. The fun has begun! Go Cavs! Kali Kight 22 kills, Katelyn Martin 24 kills and Maddi Glendening 21 kills on the day for Chilli with Hayley Robinson with 70 assists and Parisa Bennett led defensivly with 20 digs. Rylee Bouillion tore it up in game 3 vs Dublin from the serve line posting 5 points and 3 of them aces to push CHS to the win.

Lost 6 or 7 point lead and lost game 1 26-24....but won the next 3 fairly handily.

Chillicothe over Logan in 3 sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18. Cavs looked strong as kills were spread around with Maddi Glendening with 12, Katelyn Martin 10, Caroline Benson 7 and Kali Kight 6. Hayley Robinson did an excellent job setting with 30 assists. Parisa Bennett with 11 digs and Katelyn Martin served up 4 aces on 96% serving. Travel to Always tough Washington Court House this Saturday. Go Cavs!

Great back and forth game last night. Gallia has some really talented hitters and will be tough on everyone this year. Warren seemed to lack team speed and passing accuracy. With a new coach and system, it will take some time, but once they get it I think they will be a force later this year.

Chillicothe is very athletic and has great senior leadership. I like the Cavs to win the league.

Got a weak call today that i have not encountered in my 18 years coaching. Call did not affect outcome of match, just felt like a getback due to my disagreement of a linejudges call and a couple previous calls. Right after i pointed out where the ball had landed, the up ref calls us for a delay of game and costs us a timeout because our side did not retrieve the ball that had rolled away from the court somewhere. First off, pull out the other side bleachers so there is a structure to stop the balls and neither team has to run that distance to retrieve a ball. Secondly, everybody felt it was the up ref making his statement to me. Really, 5 to 6 calls missed in this one and i don't usually complain, but it was warranted today. " I'm just saying " really!

So early on it appears Chillicothe is the favorite.

How has Logan been doing?

Jackson at Logan next Thursday will give us an idea of which teams will compete for the title. Gallia Academy has made their mark by beating Warren.

Jackson and Gallia were tight this summer.

Chillicothe now stands at 2-0 after a win @ Warren in 3 sets 25-19, 25-16, 25-17. They are 4-2 overall and will be at the Unioto Invitational this Saturday. Freshman won in 3 and Jv won in two. Freshman are 3-0 and jv 3-2.

Cavs win @ Jackson in three sets. 25-23, 25-16, 25-17. Unforced errors reeled in the first set but scratched it out. Now 7-3 overall and 3-0 in SEOAL. Travel to Dublin on Saturday to play Dublin Scioto, Athens and Thomas Worthington in a quad. Have Gallia Academy @ home on Monday. Will be nice to be home as we have been on the road for two weeks. Go Cavs!
