West travels to Valley for round 2
West travels to Valley for round 2
Second time thru conference, anything can happen with Bricker on the bump. Valley bats are hot and their defense is lagging behind not a good combination. West is always a threat if Bricker has his A game. Balls should be flying today in the hotter air. Can't wait to watch this one.

Great pitched game by Bricker. He had perfect game til 5th, give up one hit with numerous strike outs. Bricker had his A game with him, I believe he no hit Valley last year at Valley, he must like pitching there. This should be a good eye opener for the Indians.
I will have to say the lack of sportsmanship from West was an embarrasment to game of baseball. Busch league to the worst.

Guys..that is all you seem to get done is talk about the Westside. No need to talk about all the crap. We all know what the West Side is like. So when they win you guys always find something bad to say about them. Lets keep your mouth shut!

That is garbage.... Make the kids clean up their act....Don't make excuses and say that is just the "West Side".
Demand better from them.

i like how you capitalized west side...like they are superior to everyone. show me a game in any sport when west doesn't show bad sportsmanship at some point in time and I'll think a little better of them, until then i will HATE the SENATORS. always have, always will....speaking of things, i remember just a year ago when west was coming out of the dugout in a game just because a ball bounced into their dugout....i also remember a different game when a couple west players called a team "vagina's" while they were stretching....i also remember a game when the umpire at a west game would look into the west Portsmouth dugout to see if the coach thought a player was out or safe, i also remember another game that west lost and a player was so mad he tried to break the opposing teams coach's finger in retaliation...i remember another west game when the 2nd basemen would smack runners in the face with their glove on more than one occasion and didn't get in trouble, of course they were the home team...i remember another game when a west player was yelling from the first base dugout to the opposing teams first basemen calling him names and got warned over it...the list can go on, that is just a few experiences i have seen from my years in baseball
but we can argue till our fingers hurt on here, over the Internet, like i said and others have said before, west has no class during competition, i have seen many football, basketball, and baseball games and it seems no matter who they play there is always something bad happen and it is never west who is to blame in their eyes. when i start seeing kids acting appropriately on the field I'll feel better about them, but it will never happen until coaches start teaching discipline and punishing players for their actions.

I will agree with you on alot of it, but you act like West is the only high school that talks trash or calls kids names. It happens everywhere. You can't tell me when you played you never talked trash, if you say no you are lying. The fact is everyone does it, but when we do it it is unsportsmanlike.
Re: West travels to Valley for round 2
Tell me when anyone has seen any disrespect of the game from any Valley kid or Wheelersburg kid during a baseball game. You can't because Valley and Burg have control of their kids. Lack of sportsmanship starts with the coaches. West players show up the umpire on what they think is a bad call, lack of respect. Baseball is to be played hard and having fun. Not bashing opposing teams or umpire or trying to show up the other school in anyway. In any sport.
It was good for the Indians to watch the way West acting after kicking their butt. But take the victory and get on the bus go home, don't sit their and talk smack to the fans and to people who are amazed at your actions. Like 2nd graders
GROW UP RESPECT ANY GAME YOU PLAY.

good post.
I remember my senior year when we beat Portsmouth West 22-1. We just shook hands and got on the bus. I always loved playing there because we would win and hurry up and get out because some of the players would resort to practicing their arm strength to throwing rocks at the bus. Gotta love that "west side" hospitality.

Re: West travels to Valley for round 2
Didn't you all know that all West has is the kids from Franklin Furnace Detention Facility? You all crack me up. I am a grown adult that have been to many of the West sporting events and for some reason seem to miss all of the excitement that some of you posters have on here. I agree that sometimes there is some "not so good sportsmanship", as there is in every district. Anyway back to the Valley game. What got this so called activity started? Wasn't it poor sportsmanship from a Valley fans running their mouth to a player? I thought I heard some of this going on. Oh no it's always the West players.

I agree that a lot of school districts have "not so good sportsmanship" at times. However, the difference in those districts and WEST SIDE is 1. The amount of times it happens 2. What is done after it happens.
In a lot of districts a boy acts out and is punished. In West, if he acts up then he is the starting pitcher and batting 3rd in the next game. I heard a coach say this year during basketball season they hoped West would not hurt anyone and he was glad when those 2 games were over because they don't have much discipline and they headhunt!!

Re: West travels to Valley for round 2
West does have some serious sportsmanship problems. I remember when we beat them last year and they came out and poured their cooler on our mound while their coaches just watched.
Re: West travels to Valley for round 2
It would be nice to know that same day any team can go to West or host West, and not have any problems with them whether they win or lose. WIN WITH RESPECT AND LOSE WITH RESPECT.
No other school in the district seems to have a problem doing that. West has some good athletes boy and girls, so it would be nice to have a good sportsmanship game with them.
One example from the Valley game, Bricker fielded a slow roller to the mound and instead of throwing to first. He sprinted to the baseline and tagged Valley's runner somewhat hard to end the game. That to me is showing up your opponent. Throw the ball to first take the win get on the bus and go home with CLASS.
It is a shame that we are talking about this. DON'T BLAME THE KIDS it starts higher than that.

Are you kidding me, that is your example of lack of sportsmanship. Tagging a guy is the safe play. You throw the ball to 1st you risk a bad throw or a missed catch. If that is all you got that is pothetic. I heard the Valley parents started trash talking to West players. I wasn't there , that is what i heard from someone that was.

i remember one time at band camp when i put swbaseballfan's head in the toilet and flushed it and the camp director didn't say anything because i was from the west side.i remeber one time at quiz bowl a kid from south webster called me stupid he had no sportsmanship at all and that kids parents should be ashamed.
First of all will you people shut up I played all three big sports in school and this stuff goes on everywhere.(soccer is not one swbaseballfan) The difference is when we talk trash everyone runs and tells how bad the west side is but when everone else talks trash it don't bother us. we don't care what you people think just sit up on your pedestal and look down on the poor west community. I love how bad people are when thier hiding behind fake names.
