Clay will be about the same as they were last year...unless, Nathan Burchett and josh Riddlebarger come out and pitch the gems they are capable of. They have the defense to back it up. Brandon Puckett will be replaced at shortstop by Jonny McKenzie, and he is a good player. hes a little short but maybe the biggest fielder on the team. the only hole that the Clay Panthers will have will be the hitting. It is the same problem that they have every year, but the boys on the team this year are gonna be in the weight room and will be alot better. Coach Robinson will be missed, hes a great guy and knows his stuff. But Coach Dixon will do a great job. Good Luck panthers!!!!!!!!

suprised that the principal is allowing the team to throw before basketball season. hes the type of guy that gets mad if you throw at your house when a sport isnt in season. :12223

Yea, it is amzing that basketball can go all year long and our other sports have to be put on the back burner until our season rolls around. If kids want to work on making themselves better, than so be it.

Do we hold kids back if they want to learn more by reading books or gaining further knowledge, surely not. Education should always come first, before any extra-curricular activity. Education is your future, at some point the extra-curricular things will end. So I encourage all students who read this focus hard on your studies.

Clay wasnt always just a basketball school, until Cameron Thouroughman got drafted into the Randy Ward system. Clay is a team that year in and year out know the fundamentals of baseball. They can throw, hit and field the ball better than anyone else. the time put in not only by the coaches but by the players is amazing. Clay baseball is ignored at the school and they get no support. Basketball all year round and then it is softball season. the staff at clay never go to the baseball games if there is a softball game that same night. Clay is Baseball, even without Robinson nothing will change. I agree with onebunter, your studies are your future and you must excell at that more than anything. But, if you are going to play a sport dont half a$$ it. when it is time to wrk on your game and get better, bust your a$$, even if you have to play it all year.

Now i just typed half of this and it dont even obtain to baseball. Clay will be good this year!!!! Im a big supporter of the team, i wish you the best of luck and kick a$$ :-D

Do not know you but greatly admire that symbol under your name!

Now to business! It seems that baseball is last at most schools and I must say I agree with everything you stated. I know it is tough for small schools and kids that attend these small schools for most of them have to compete in all sports to have enough to play. This does not allow them to perfect one sport or another. I do say this either the OHSAA or the schools administration has to put a crack down on allowing coaches to intimidate these kids by telling them if they do not show up to this or that then they won't have a starting position for next year or your letting your team and school down. Anyone who reads this do not try and say it does not happen, for it will be bull--- flying deep and fast!!

These kids may only have four years to enjoy playing the sports they love to play, so let us knock out the pressure put on by some coaches not all and let the kids enjoy the extra curricular activities while they can. They will grow up quicker than we can imagine and maybe won't have the chance to enjoy sports or whatever bona-fide extra curricular activity later in life.

No one can tell me if a kid is a two or three sport athlete that he has to be at open gyms constantly to be a better basketball player or any other sport. He is staying in shape by playing another sport and he can always shoot hoops at a park or his or her home. Let them alone and enjoy what season it is.

Look in the Bible under the book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 verse 1, "To everything there is a season, and time to every purpose under the heaven" when it is that sport season other coaches need to leave that athlete alone. If something is being held by another sport and the athlete has free time and wants to attend then his current coach should not say a thing and vice versa.

College coaches prefer two to three sport athletes, ask them. Though first priority is good attitude and coachability, but most of all is education and grades.

All I am saying is let the kids enjoy and have fun, Can't we all get along?

Onebunter I agree on these coaches that force kids to play there sport or elese. It happens in this county all the time and the coaches know who they are. College love kids who play multi sports, (Terrel Pryor)it lets them see how talented they are and plus they don't go through the burnout of one sport.

A+ post. Nothing much else should be added, except for one small thing. At small schools, it isn't only the coaches that preach this stuff, it is uptight parents that push springtime open gyms and travel spring soccer on their children that gives baseball a tough road with fewer players as the kids are pressed to "specialize". The small, d3 and d4 schools in baseball have a hard time with this parent and coach interference. Let the kids be kids and as said before, to everything there is a season. Let it be so.

Clay had a coach there in the late 90's that was building a baseball program. The people that ran the place then decided to dissolve his teaching job. He moved north to a bigger school and has been very successful.

thats pretty funny, coming from a man that has a son that goes to rosemount schools! Pretty sad, maybe you should support the kids of Clay instead of putting them down
