i'm right there with ya though, it costs a fortune to go pay $3-$5 five days a week per person just to watch a few baseball games. i am all for schools making some extra money for their baseball programs, its just sad to know that most schools could care less about funding baseball enough for them to look good and have nice things to use on the field

i agree most schools could care less about baseball as long as their football or basketball team looks good,and i would say it is like that just about everywhere around here.just about all of the games i have been to the the last couple of years the home team boys will work on the field for a half hour or hour just to keep it playable which i think is good.it teaches them to take care of the field and respect it but you dont see football players cleaning the stadium or basketball players the gym.

But you hit the nail smack dab on the head, it is not alright to pay a small fortune to watch a sports game. That is why small market teams lost fans @ the games and saw fans stay at home because it was cheaper to pay for the game on TV then to go to a game, pay a bundle to get in and park, then pay the overly outrageous prices for snacks, drinks and merchandise...

There fans decided it was better to watch from a far then go a throw away their money...
Jacksonville -- Blackout
Detroit -- Blackout
Oakland -- Blackout (if the team didn't buy the remaining tickets)

We are in some of the worst times when it comes to money. Some time ago, someone decided that because people had diehard love for their respected teams, that they could milk the heck out of them at the gate and at the stands because it was an experience to see these famous athletes in person. However, TV and Internet has made it easier to see these people, and made it to where we can have a little say in whether we are willing to drop 145 big ones to watch a football game or decide to go with the 10-12 bucks a month per a game via TV.

All it would take would be a UNION of people boycotting such events in a STAND to say, we love the game, and the team, but enough is enough....I forgot to mention GAS to the games as well so chuck another 50-75 into that and it really becomes a no-brainer...

Football has 10 Games a Season...all played on Friday (some Saturday)

Where Baseball can have from 3-7 games a week...

Here at Athens, we raise most of our money through T-Shirt Sales, a Baseball clinic, and funraisers and we have a lot of Parents over the past 20 years who have put in there time free of charge working to keeo our field in tip top shape...Pepsi donated money toward a new scoreboard, we got a couple of companies to donate money toward our green mesh on the outfield fence and our players are required on home games to rake and pick up trash because it teaching them responsibility and dicipline and also help them understand that a lot of work goes into getting these fields ready for them...

Most people just want a hand-out and it just doesn't work that way. If you want a nice field, it will take an effort, from all involved...

cost a fortune? $3 a game is a fortune? 5 games a week is more than a few. maybe you could volunteer to help with concession or run the scoreboard to get in free. most schools are always begging for help.

making extra money for their baseball program? do you know how much it costs to field a high school baseball team? i would imagine most schools are losing money each year with baseball. if lucky they may break even or barely pay for the officials.

most schools could care less? what is most? other than a few teams who traditionally struggle to win i think most schools do a pretty good job providing for their teams considering the lack of money generated by the programs.

fans pay at football games. fans pay at basketball games. fans pay at soccer games. why would you not expect to pay at baseball or softball? if you go to a college game or a pro game, dont you pay?

BOTTOM LINE IS JUST BE PREPARED TO PAY ADMISSION OR BY SPORTS PASSES FOR HOME GAMES. THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT WERE ONCE FREE AND NOW THEIR NOT. SUPPORT YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS AND THEIR TEAMS ANY WAY YOU CAN. MEMORIES ARE PRICELESS.

LOGAN doesn't charge either or at least at the moment. that may change after the new field is opened. but that may not be for the next 10 yrs as slow as thats going. they built to school faster then they're building the baseball & softball fields.

People were told that baseball was a "low revenue" high school sport, so it was put on the back burners. We true fans are expecting the new field to be playable by the 19th of this month and yes I would expect to pay to watch the game. At least we may not be like some schools that charge you to park also.
