Re: Gallipolis-Athens score?
Athens went up by 2 in the bottom of the first on a two run homerun. Game remained that score until the 5th inning when Gallia scored 1 in the top half. Athens responded with 1 of their own in the bottom of the 5th. Gallia then scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th to tie the game up. The bottom of the 6th is where the game changed. Athens was able to score 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Gallia was able to load the bases in the top of the 7th inning but no runs were scored.

Congrats to the Blue Devil baseball team on a good season. Coach Corvin has made a great difference in Gallia Academy Baseball.

I will agree with that 100%. Coach Corvin is a great baseball coach and an even better man.

Classic Baseball Game
Athens struck 1st with Kyle Deans 2-run Homer...
Galia got one back with a Sac-Fly...
Athens then tacked on another after that to stretch it to 3-1...
Galia had runners on 3rd & 2nd when an infield single turned into 2 RBI's and a tie ball game...
Athens then managed some breathing room getting the bases-loaded when Senior Dean drilled a double up the middle getting 2 across and later 3 more would cross to give Athens that insurance of a nice (8-3) lead...
Galia (as we have seen) would not go away quietly, loaded the bases up, but Athens dodged the 7th inning collapse and came away the victors...
Doug Chapman pitched the 1st 5 innings before giving the hill to Dean Maffin, who would record the Win for the Bulldogs...
Dean, Chapman, Maffin, Grimm all had key hits in Athens win tonight and Greg Pach suffered an injury but managed to fight the pain and secure his outfield spot to help the Bulldogs...
GREAT SEASON TO THE BLUE-DEVILS!
ATHENS -- "JUST WIN BABY!" keep on keepin' on...

Questionmark left out one important part of what was indeed a terrific game. After injuring his arm, Greg Pach doubled in the go-ahead run to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth. After the game, he went to the emergency room and had his arm sutured. Check out the article in today's Messenger.

Yea, I tried to recap the ball game and knew I'd missed something...Greg is one tough cookie...
The cleats marks on his arm looked like the burned-rubber marks left from the DeLorian in the Back to the Future Movies...

Gillespie's cleats must have been dipped in kryptonite. That seems to be the only thing that can slow Greg down....and it's DeLoren...LOL

GW & Farr thanx buddies...now you can see why I am still in college...lol
Farr, I hope we will see each other next ... and Athens/Warren showdown would be huge since we split this season...
Good Luck to your Boys 'N' Blue and I hope our Green Machine can get by Logan Elm to set up the match-up!
