Re: wellston baseball
Lost a really solid senior class from a district runnerup team. Gonna take a bit of time to build things up. If they are still winless after a couple of weeks, then it's time to panic. They will be fine.

the rockets did not look good last night athens scored lots of runs on errors .the coach needs to group them together they are young .my opinion its time for derrow to step down .
Re: wellston baseball
What are your reasons for him stepping down? He is just coming off back-to-back district final appearances. They lost a lot of three and four year players last year. I think the team starts 3 or 4 freshman and a handful of sophomores. Again, I just don't see any logic in your post.

Re: wellston baseball
During his few season they have won the TVC- 2 Sectional Titles and have been to the District Finals 2 consecutive seasons. I don't hardly think Coach Derrow is the issue here. Whoever posted that is extremely undereducated about the game. My understanding is that they have numerous players injured, they are already really inexperienced. If you are a player and posted this... You could be one of the problems they are having. If you are a parent, maybe you should stay out of it, we have the same problem at our school. I have followed area sports including Wellston for a few years now and trust me, he isn't the problem. They are very well coached. He will get them turned around in due time. He always does.

Re: wellston baseball
People always jump to conclusions ... High school sports teams' always go through cycles (unless you have built a sports powerhouse like Ironton football or Chesapeake basektball) ... I just like to see a good quality coach, who does a good job developing the student athlete on and off the field ... From my interactions with Coach Derrow, he seems like a good guy and a good coach - and don't forget - grass sometimes isn't greener on the other side.
If you have a good coach, who is good with his/her players, I would probably make it a point to keep him/her in place.
That's just my 2-cents.

Re: wellston baseball
if the young rockets are going to get it going this year they need to get it started wish them the best but it looks like a next year season.to much inexperienced players it will take time to regroup losing agreat senior class last year .on the rebound go rockets..........
