Re: Logan Chieftains Baseball 2012
JV lost 11-4 in 7 innings. Took a 4-0 lead into the 5th when Athens bats exploded. Kids came out hitting and aggressive on the bases. Starting pitcher was solid for 3 but got tired. Athens kept chipping away. Saw some good things. Logan only committed 1 error in the 1st inning and it did not cost them. Several solid hits to the gaps in the outfield cost them. Logan has a very aggressive squad and solid on defense. Bats fell silent for a couple of innings and Athens stole the momentum. This squad has potential though. Athens starting pitcher only lasted 1/3 of an inning. Not sure if he was their ace but if so Logan could do some damage if they can put it all together.

Nelsonville -York 5 Logan 2 improving? The two losses so far comes from areas that have outstanding youth programs!

JV won 15-4 in 6 innings. One of the parents said they looked pretty solid. 0 walks by the 2 pitchers. 0 errors in the field. 23 stolen bases. Logan ran more than the track teams having a meet going on beside them.

JV lost 7-4. Fought their way back from being down 5-0 early but came up short. Playing tough though.

Ummm Logangrad, let me just CLARIFY, Nelsonville rec league is not perfect and we have work to do but we are trying to make it a better league. The reason we were trying to get kids from Logan and Trimle, etc is because we got our league chartered with Little League International and those areas are included in our map. I cannot believe that you would put a league down for their efforts to get better and expand and say we BARELY exist. My son plays on a VERY successful team out of that league (along with 2 kids from Logan). I don't think you could name ONE kid from Neksonville that plays in Logan's rec league. We are making strides is the right direction and we do WAY more than BARELY exist! Get your facts straight before you start putting down a league of very talented kids for just trying to get better and concentrate on maybe trying to make your own league better!Logangrad wrote:Umm just to verify Shine; Nelsonville BARELY has a rec baseball program. In fact they were asking for teams from other towns to just come and play there. Athens' sandlot league is top notch but Logan has 2 or 3 teams in that league every year. Logan lost to NY last night because they didnt hit the ball very well in key situations. And anyone will tell you thats coached baseball at this early point in the season, hitting is usually behind pitching. Live hitting is always tough to get in inside where you can always throw from a mound. Logan leads Chilly 2-1 as of this post.

Logan JV beat Gallia 10-7. Looked solid again. Put up 6 in the first inning. Solid pitching from their starter. They were running all the time. Defense plays smart. Up 10-3 going into the seventh and the reserves gave up 4. This team has some potential. They play smart and with some passion. That has been missing from this program for awhile.
