Good weekend for the pirates after a great pitchers duel on Monday vs. Waverly. Moore and Knicely put on a clinic on the mound. Both teams scratch out a run in the 6th, and after Knicely going 9 and Moore 10 we are going into 12 tied at 1., resumed TBA. Then a great win Friday against an always tough Valley team. Moore vs. Howard again like the first time they played. Moore gave up 2 hits through 5 as pirates built a 7 run lead and finish game winning 7-1. Russell throwing the final 2. Saturday tri match against Ironton , Dylan Miller and Jacob Roe combine on the mound with Roe getting his first varsity win. 12-2 in 6. Then the nightcap vs. PHS , Zach Brown pitched well for the pirates going 5 then Zach Russell closes it out to pick up the save 6-3. Pitching and defense continue to be the pirates strong suit as the bats seem to be slowly coming around. With 2 big weeks left they need to put it all together to be able to make a run in the tourney, and put away the SOC as there still are plenty of games to be played. Pirates stand at 14-3 with 9 to play and 1 to finish,and still 8 SOC games left., far from over.. Come watch the Pirates play and if you can't make it listen to burgfan.com as mean Gene and the Duke of Earl broadcast some games periodically. Go Burg

How did the Pirates do in the DH against Ashland?

Pirates lost 2-3 in 10 innings.
From overhearing the discussion Ashland claimed they had never agreed to DH. Burg didn't find out until half way through 1st game.
