Scioto Valley Conference 2013
Scioto Valley Conference 2013
Great baseball league. This conference is loaded with pitching in 2013. Piketon has to be the favorite, but there are too many baseball tradtion-rich schools in this league for them to walk through it. Thoughts on the SVC?

Anyone who thinks any team will walk through the SVC is either ignorant or biased beyond belief. This league has been competitive from top to bottom for the past 10 years. You bring your "A" game every night or go home with a loss.

Gonna be alot of 1-0 or 2-1 games with the Adena's, Burg's, and Piketon's playing with the pitching available for these teams in my opinion. In close contests like this it leaves some opportunity for some coaches to "win" a game by making some smart moves here and there and being strategic. So I think the edge in some of these games between the "better" programs may indeed come down to some coaching moves.

Well said. Anytime you play three league games a week (sometimes 4/5 with rainouts) you better have a complete pitching staff.

Re: Scioto Valley Conference 2013
Unioto returns their top two pitchers from their last two district champion teams.
Westfall returns all all of their pitching, ZT as well.
Could be a lot of low scoring games across the league this year. It wouldn't surprise me to see any of 4 teams to win it. Oh yeah, and Huntington and PV should be better with an added year of expierence.
The league should be absolutely loaded(like normal) this season.

Adena lost their top pitchers, plus a pretty big presence down the 3rd baseline as well. Going to be tough going for them this season, but they will still be a factor like they always are.doubleplay643 wrote:Gonna be alot of 1-0 or 2-1 games with the Adena's, Burg's, and Piketon's playing with the pitching available for these teams in my opinion. Look for Zane Trace to be a factor, 3-4 pretty decent freshmen entering the system there with Mowery and Davis being pretty solid players. Hall and Dunkle as well. Should be helpful to an already good upperclass group.

I don't know if those kids will help this year or not, but I know ZT is always a factor. They have a veteran pitching staff returning. They did lose some offense, but they always seem to rake.

I'm betting at least one of them cracks the varsity line-up, if not then they will get to see a lot of JV innings...trust me.teamwork wrote:I don't know if those kids will help this year or not, but I know ZT is always a factor. No doubt if they don't play varsity they will play JV. No team in SVC has freshman baseball? I hear mowery is Avery good distance runners will he run track and play AAU basketball in the spring. Over the years I have sen many good baseball players follow this route.

I can name a lot of SVC baseball players that have got money to play in college.

Numerous freshman over the years have played in the SVC and have been very average. Very few have started and performed at a high level. There is a very big transition from jr high to HS baseball.

Yes a good runner, but my understanding is he will play baseball this year. If he does he will make a difference in the line-up even if he is a freshman. Seen him play this past summer a couple times in travel ball at Flash Fields near Cincy, he has the tools to compete and contribute at the varsity level. If I was the baseball coach I be telling him to get his "distance running" fix in cross country in the fall lol and in the spring play baseball.bengalfan76 wrote:No doubt if they don't play varsity they will play JV. If he's big into running....he won't be taking the spring off for baseball.
The elite XC runner rarely plays baseball....track helps XC...XC helps track.
Running XC and baseball are big at ZT.
Maybe he just runs XC to have something to do in the fall.

And some people also are forgetting how ridiculously good the pitching is across the league as well.oldschoolwebgem wrote:Numerous freshman over the years have played in the SVC and have been very average. Re: Scioto Valley Conference 2013
I think with how much competition there is in the league this year, the champion will have to have a pretty decent #3 pitcher to get them through the week. I believe the top teams will be able to hit just about anyone. It will also be pivital for a deep run in the tournament. Who does Westfall, Unioto, and Piketon have as their #3 guys? :aaaaa119teamwork wrote:A lot of experienced pitching.

Don't most players go from JV to Varsity. Is something funny about that?
They also have Meyers coming back, throws hard played first base last year.
