Shawnee State Small School Showcase

Post by futbolisweird »

Head Coach Chris Moore is happy to announce the second annual Small School Showcase Series here on campus at Shawnee State University. Every single non-D1 school in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, and Michigan will be invited as well as some other schools that show interest. If you sign up and have a school you’d like to attend from outside the area, let me know and I will personally invite them to attend. The event was such a tremendous success last year that we have decided to break to series into five sessions over the course of three separate dates. There will be two sessions on Saturday October 3rd, with the first beginning at 10am and the second beginning at 3pm. The next weekend, there will be an evening session on Friday October 9th beginning at 6pm and then two sessions Saturday October 10th beginning at 10am and 3pm respectively.

Each session in the series will consist of a pro-style workout including 60 yd dash time, defensive evaluation, offensive evaluation, and pitching evaluation. We are capping each session at 40 players to ensure each player is properly evaluated and has an opportunity to communicate with coaches.

This year, we are adding the feature of disseminating all objective information to all the non-D1 coaches who were invited to the camp but were not able to attend. The goal, as always, is to provide as much exposure as we possibly can to the players who decide they want to attend our camp.

Additionally, Shawnee State University baseball uses camps as a legitimate recruiting tool. Of the 44 players we have on our current roster, 20 attended camps in the past. Rest assured, we have no JV program so these players were identified at camp and brought in to make an immediate impact.

This camp is run by the SSU coaching staff directly. We take great pride in providing the highest quality experience at the lowest possible cost. Everyone is given a great opportunity to showcase their skills as well as learn a great deal about Shawnee State and the recruiting process. I personally take very seriously the responsibility of each camper and his family walking away a fan of our university. There will be larger showcases with bigger names, but this will be a showcase of the highest quality.

Cost to attend one session of camp is $45. It is not necessary to attend more than one session but if you would like to do so, each additional session will cost $30. You can register for the Small School Showcase Series at shawneestatebaseballcamps.com and you can find updates on camp or the schools attending at our Facebook page, facebook.com/shawneebaseball or on twitter by following @shawneestatebb.
