Where did I say anything about the Chillicothe area having more talent than Portsmouth, However with my limited knowledge of the game playing with college players vs playing with HS kids I would have to say the prior would be more beneficial. Yes he can play if he has graduated from school and is playing college baseball. No we are not affiliated with the NLB but we play some of the Great Lakes teams. Don't knock it until you watch a game. The are some pretty good player in the league. Sorry if I offended your Post 23.

No offense. Ask around I try to champion the game of Baseball in SE ohio. I started this team to give SE Ohio kids a place to play and still live at home. Here is the team website, we are in the process of recruiting and scheduling. We need a catcher do you know one?

The League rules are that he has to be on a College Roster or had been on a college roster and is in the middle of transferring. The player that has just graduated must be signed to play college ball. There are 3 exception for each team. I know where you are going no Jordan has not signed but there is no doubt that he will be by the time we start playing.
You should be ashamed of yourself taking pot shots at a HS kid only to make you kid or Grandkid look better. Why piss on someone elses parade or dreams.

Look I am just giving Southern Ohio kids a place to play. Not sure where Jordan will play but we are giving him an opportunity to play. If he gives us the innings his Brother did last year then Pitcher may very well be where he plays. I have seen him catch and hit, if given an opportunity he can excell there also. I cam to Jordan's defense because it Bugs me to see someone bash a kid behind a screen.
Now to catcher, I have been in contact with Armstrong's father as I have known him for a few years. I told his dad back when he was a frosh and Soph that he had talent. Playing on JV waiting his opportunity behind the White kid. Daniel has a strong arm and recieves very well. It is my understanding that Rio is high on him. Are we looking for a catcher yes. Last years catcher was the Alexander kid from Eastern/SSU, he will play SS for SSu and really doesn't want to catch. John Storey was one of my favorite kids last summer.lol If you know him you know why.lol Again he didn't want to catch. We had two kids committed to catch for us last summer but due to the cost of gas and school committments they desided to play elsewhere. So to answer your question we are looking for a starting catcher about 20-30 games this summer. If his bat is also good enough he will be our DH when not catching. I prefer an older catcher that has actually caught a college pitcher, however the good ones are snatched up by other teams in the columbus area and other leagues.
I am done with this conversation due to the kids are reading this and it is not fair to see others badmouthing them. If you would like to have further discourse feel free to PM me. I would like to talk to you about a couple things and plyers.

Re: Burg Baseball 2008
Burg's completed their 2nd scrimmage against Chillicothe on Wednesday.
This was a pretty good ball game overall as it was tied 2-2 after 7 I believe. Chilli rallied in the top of the 8th to go up 7-2 (I think) with a couple BB's and timely hits they plated 5. Burg did not bat in the bottom of the 8th due to darkness.
Not a stellar performance offensively for Burg's hitters against solid Chilli pitching. A good challenge for Burg in this scrimmage. Probably 4-5 hits scattered across 7 innings. Chilli may have had a few more hits but not many more.
Burg took the lead 1-0 early. Mid-way Chilli went up 2-1. Burg tied the game in the 6th or 7th at 2-2.
Burg got solid innings from their mid level pitching staff as Hopper started and went 2, Cook 3, Boyer 2 and White 1.
Looking at the pitching, Burg has pitched 7 pitchers between the scrimmages and all have provided solid innings. With a few more swings, they should begin to get their timing and get the bats started as well.
