Oak Hill vs Wheelersburg 4/2/08
Oak Hill vs Wheelersburg 4/2/08
Oak Hill will square off against SOC2 opponent Wheelersburg tonight at Burg at 5pm.
This is Burg's opening game of the 2008 season. Looks like the weather is on track for a great day at the ball field.

Could be a long afternoon for the Oaks. But if you want to be good you have to play tuff competition.
And Yes, Burg will be that good.

Nice win burg. I hope that the pirates keep on winning and go undefeated into the Minford game. That will just make winning that game against the evil empire that more satisfying.

The Evil Empire? Awesome, I love it. Well, when you're the best, everyone wants a piece. The Pirates are up for any and all challenges.
Anyway, a decent opening game for Wheelersburg. There were too many baserunning mistakes (as there were in the scrimmage games) that can't happen in the future. I think some adjustments were made after the game and look for improvement everyday. Everyone swung the bat well at some point while Wamsley & Armstrong were a dominant battery tonight.
Hope the rain stays out of the Branch for tomorrow night against Portsmouth.

Pretty good showing from the Pirates last night. Wamsley was solid as always both on the mound going 3 and at the plate with a 2R HR early in the game. Offensively the Pirates were solid throughout the lineup as most hit the ball well. Boyer completed final 2 innings and had a solid performance on the mound as well.
As catch24 mentioned, the main issues were a few base running mistakes.

Sounds to me like Burg had some of the same problems Minford had in their first few games. If both of these teams can clean up their play some they both can do some damage in the playoffs.

Nice win by the Pirates last night. All the batters put the bat on the ball, defense looked pretty good and we won. I think after the 'extra session'
the baserunning will be better. Hopefully, the weather will break and the young men can get some work in on Sat. since tomorrow is not looking very promising.
