2010 W-BURG Baseball
Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Burg over Greenup tonight at home 7-4. Elliott started with Bryce Hall and Nic Kemper coming in. Nic Kemper went long for the Burg i beleive that is either 27 or 28 hr's as a team. Catcher looked good tonight throwing out two as they were trying to steal second especially the one in the top of the seventh-big out. Go Burg

Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Burg#1 or anyone else that might know, did the Burg lose to Greenup earlier this season. I know they are listed as having a 23-1 record and their only loss being to Minford, but I got a PM from someone who says that Greenups scoreboard show them beating the Burg back around the end of March. I asked him if it might be a JV score or a scrimmage and he said it was a varsity score. I think he said it showed the Burg losing 10-5.
Here is what listed on their scoreboard.

That game was a scheduled scrimmage for Burg, but I believe Greenup counted it as a game. That is the correct score, though.

i remember hearing about that the day after that game....i am still confused on how it can be a scrimmage for one team and an official game for another.

Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Burg had to count it as a scrimmage due to the number of days they were able to play (only 27 games in 24 days in Ohio). Kentucky has different rules...their scrimmage week had already ended.

Thanks baseball_fan. I kind of figured it had to be something like that especially when I saw the March date. I didn't think the regular season could start until April in Ohio.

Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Season started March 29th in Ohio. If this game was before that date it has to be a scrimmage. If after then it should have been counted as a game and a win should have been used as a scrimmage. Not a big deal Burg is a great team.
Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
You are allowed to count games later than opening date as scrimmage as long as both teams agree.

Greenup County had defeated a Top 10 Kentucky team earlier in the day, Harrison County, by a score of 16-15. Ethan Hardin had pitched Friday against Lewis County and Dakota Greenslate did start against Wheelersburg before leaving after 2 innings.
I would love to see a matchup between Greenup County and Wheelersburg with their 2 best pitchers going at each other.

Elliott, Bryce Hall, and Nick Kemper all pitched Monday night against Greenup. Update: Game Saturday against South Webster has been moved to 11:00 am at Burg instead of noon.
Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Burg playing at home today (saturday) at 11, i believe starting in the second inning from a rain out- playing against South Webster-should be a good game to watch Go Burg
Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
After getting down, 4-0 midway through the fourth quarter, the Pirates scored two in the fourth and two in the sixth to tie the game. The winning run came in the bottom of the seventh as the lead off batter, Andrew Elliot walked and then Nick Kemper hit a double with no outs to score him from first for a 5-4 final.
Hard fought game by both teams.

shouldent the game ended after the 4th quarter??? LOL..just giving you a hard time. it was a good game
Re: 2010 W-BURG Baseball
Nice Job South Webster- had us in trouble 4-0 at one point- bottom of sixth two outs 4-1 the rally started- Austin Hall hits one to the fence left field, next batter gets hit hit(Alex Shears) Ryan O Leary hits a shot to bring in two runs makes it 4-4 going into the seventh, and the Burg pulls it out. Webster pitching looked good along with their bats early on. Go Burg

Big win on Sat. for the Pirates over Webster. The team came back, fought hard and made plays when they had to make them.
