I would say combination of both. Good bats and good defense to back up the pitching.

Valley's strength is definitely pitching, defense, and hitting in that order. But having watched them many times so far, their hitting is very solid. The only lower scoring outputs were against very good pitching. If the hitting picks up a notch or two, they're tough to beat. The two performances I watched from Arnett and Nickel this week were very impressive.

Valley has scored 56 runs and given up 17 runs in 8 games.

Valley vs NW postponed due to weather this evening as well.

Coriell started the inning but had an “apparent injury” and had to come out.

I was watching from the outfield fence so didn't notice any injury, but that makes more sense now. At the time, it seemed like a quick hook when still up 2 runs and just a runner on first.*
