Looks like a couple of good games. Circleville is super gritty, I'd love to see them win a couple more.Raider6309 wrote:D2 District Final

That match-up went out the window for that date and location when the seed results were announced.Raider6309 wrote:I was hoping for Athens and Meigs at Ohio university Wednesdayma77ox wrote:It's been such a weird season of baseball...lol...Go Athens!!!
I was hoping for Meigs/Marietta match-up in the regional at Zanesville.
Re: 5/16 scores
Meigs and Athens wouldn't have faced off until the Regional Semi-final in Zanesville. Was hoping it would happen, Maybe next year.Raider6309 wrote:I was hoping for Athens and Meigs at Ohio university Wednesdayma77ox wrote:It's been such a weird season of baseball...lol...Go Athens!!!

Fu and Sheridan both go out on plays at the plate. Heard the Sheridan one was bad. I've seen the video of the fu one and he was definitely safe. But the ump was in an odd spot and fu should have never been in that position. Ran themselves into too many outs. Congrats to Marietta. Good luck in the district final!

It's why baseball is so great. Anybody can beat anybody. It's a hard game and has so many variables.93Bulldog wrote:So there are none of the top 2 seeds left in D2? Gotta love baseball ... lol

Re: 5/16 scores
I think this just shows how hard seeding is and many times it really makes no difference. Yeah this is what makes baseball the BEST game!!Falcon01 wrote:It's why baseball is so great. Baseball is hard to judge. Like Athens was the play in game. Athens beat Washington 7-0, Meigs 11-1, Warren 12-0, Marietta 3-1, and Logan elm 5-2. Athens also lost games they should have won.

Re: 5/16 scores
The majesty of baseball is that who you play matters. You can have an average-to-good team, but that doesn't mean they're prepared for districts. A good in-conference and out of conference schedule works wonders. Expose your team to solid hitting and your pitchers will improve, and your fielding is far more prepared. Schedule up when you can and your hitters will get exposed to better pitching and fielding. Play teams that are very well coached and your coaches, along with the kids, can pick up on it.
I see baseball as far differently from basketball, and arguably better, for this reason. I think it's harder for coaches to engineer their team's development in basketball when every game is tooth-and-nail "play to win". Baseball, you can approach it much differently and still improve in the process (i.e. throw your #4 pitcher, like a young gun, out of conference and they'll have the experience that gets them squared and situated to throw in conference.)
