scores 4/17
Re: scores 4/17
A little uncalled for? Are you kidding me? Wheelersburg is a class act and did not run the score up at all. Nobody likes being in that situation, ever, but you do what you can do. You don't take the bat out of a kids hands, but you can go one base at a time. If you're not there, you don't know.

i agree, 35 runs will happen when a team is hitting the ball good. you cant tell kids to strike out or not to run out a ground ball

Re: scores 4/17
From what I heard, just like last year against Minford, when Burg scored over 30 runs also, players that were hitting the ball off the fence was told to take one base as well as anyone that was on the base was told to take one base at a time. How fair is this to the players?
Like catch24 said, you hate to be in situations like this, but when it does, you handle it just like the Burg did this year and last year in the Minford game.
What do you suggest? That after the score gets out of hand, do you have the batters walk up to the plate and just take three strikes? NO!!!!!!!!
Same situations happen in football and basketball. In football, you basically don't throw the ball and in basketball, you don't continue to keep chucking up three's. You run your offense, with your subs.
I see no problem in the score of this game

Re: scores 4/17
Just a question here: Does Ohio have a mercy rule before the 5th inning? I know it's 10 after 5 innings but is there a 15 after 4 or a 20 after 3 rule or something along these lines?
Re: scores 4/17
The only rule is 10 after 5. I think the state should look into changing the rule to 15 after 4 or 20 after 4.
The Burg team would go base to base, not run up the score on Oak Hill. There isn't a single player, coach, administrator, or parent that wants to see a game like this, winning or losing. But, nobody should be told to make an out on purpose. Probably the best thing to do after a game like this, is to just say they won by alot and not post the score.

WOW!!!!!!
who pitched for burg?
Feeman 2, Hopper 2, Leach 1.
Started off slow and I believe the score was 6-1 heading into the top of the 3rd.
Not a fun game for either team IMO. Oak Hill gave a bunch of batters a free base in the top of the 5th. Burg was ahead 15-1 heading into the top of 5. Pretty much Burg was being held to 1 base and not running on passed balls, etc.
Can't make players swing at bad pitches and lose their discipline at the plate. No one was running up the score.
