OneBunter: get the word out to your players about the Legion team. We would love to have them participate.
Re: Eastern Pike Baseball 09-10
It is now 34 days and counting until the 2009-2010 baseball season officially gets on its way. I must say I am very excited about this upcoming season and I am having a very hard time waiting for that first day! I'm ready to start tomorrow!!!
Re: Eastern Pike Baseball 09-10
Heard through the grapevine that Eastern has about 41 boys grades 7th through 12th planning on playing baseball?? If that is true, then that is great to hear!! Sounds like Coach Martin is slowly heading this program in the right direction? There is one snaggle, I heard is that he does not have enough equipment to supply a Jr. High, possible JV and Varsity Teams and he is out trying to raise the money to be able to give these kids the opportunity to play this great game of baseball.
I know I have bashed Coach Martin in the past, but I must say what I have seen over these last two years he is committed to making baseball into a quality program just as the basketball team has become.
My question is when is our community going to pitch in and help him? He can't do it all alone!!
Though times are tough with all of us, but if there is any way any of us or anyone can help with any monetary donation or supplying equipment such as baseballs, batting helmets, catchers gear I know he would greatly appreciate any support he could get.
So let us get on the bases and bring some money home to develop another quality program at Eastern!!!
P.S.
He has proven to me he is here for the long haul and is here for the kids, so my question is are we here for our kids? If so then let us get behind him and this program!!!

This is Coach Martin and I appreciate your words regarding the baseball programs here at Eastern, but I must say when it comes to baseballs, catchers equipment, and helmets there are certain sizes and colors that are preferred. I appreciate any help I can get, but when it comes down to it regarding equipment I would like to be the one who chooses what we get. I will not turn away offers, but I want unity from bottom to top and vice versa. I consider all our boys who play in our school programs one big happy family and I want to keep it that way!! There may have to be some disparity in uniforms until we can get things completely established but it will be as close as possible in what we all will have.
I am in it for the kids and I only want them to be able to play the games they enjoy and I want to make the baseball program top notch but we must have feeder programs to become top notch.
If anyone is willing to donate monetarly or with equipment please contact me at 740-941-6555.
Once again thanks for your support!!!

Sounds as if you all are heading in the right direction as far as establishing interest from the players in the sport and in your program. 40 plus players make a great number. Congratulations
The next step to ensuring the quality of the play there is to get in as many innings as possible. This can be accomplished by informing your players about the benefits of the summer and fall baseball programs in the area.
Specifically I am talking about the American Legion Baseball program. This is the most beneficial program for high school baseball players outside of the public school program.
We have yet to have one Eastern High School baseball player show interest in the program. If you want a better program you have to have better players. The more innings a player plays the better they get.
The legion program is for all Pike County players! Your players can contact Coach Blackburn at 708-0565 for details on how to join this fantastic baseball program.
