Great season to the Pirates. To end up 2nd in the state is a great accomplishment.

Congrats to the young men in orange and black on another fine season. Even though you did not reach the ultimate goal of a state championship (very few do) you have made lifelong memories and good friendships in your career that will last a lifetime. In a couple of months you seniors will be going your separtate ways to enter in the next phase of life. Do not forget the good times you have shared when you have been together and the little things that will beocme more precious as the years pass. Best wishes and good luck to Ryan O'Leary, Brandon Hall, Andrew Elliott, Nic Kemper, Caleb Leach and Bryce Hall (I hope I didnt foget a name...old age ya know).

2nd place in the state is a great accomplishment, but after watching the game on DVR today I have to wonder why the starting pitcher was pulled. He wasn't doing that bad and most of the runs scored on him were unearned as far as I could tell. The centerfielder diving for a ball he had no chance of catching accounted for three runs and the missed DP in the 5th inning let 2 or 3 more runs score. Nothing against the boys, as those things will happen, but I wouldn't have pulled my ace because of the 7 runs. Maybe he was sore from the 10 innings on thursday. The relief pitcher was obviously struggling from the first 4 pitches he threw, so I don't understand why he stayed in the game until the burg was down 11 runs. I started to feel sorry for him after they went up 10 to 3. That team wasn't 11 runs better than the burg.

A team that goes to the Final Four is typically remembered in a community. Congrats to Wheelersburg on a fine season.

I watched the semi-final game against Badin and the Leach kid struggled all day at the plate till the last at bat which is all that counts and the team played well against a good proven opponent as Wheelersburg hung in there and came up big at the end. I think the championship game final (after rain delays and setbacks of course) score is not indicative of the team Wheelersburg had. A lot of these games come down to matchups (especially pitching) and it was just Clearfork's day, plain and simple. The Burg is to be commended for their record (30-2) and 2nd place state finish as they had a very talented ballclub. :aaaaa41
