Oesch has turned into a pretty good catcher in just a short amount of time. I have been impressed with his arm behind the plate as he has shut down alot of running games. I look for coach martin to keep him behind the plate for the next couple years as he keeps improving to one of the best catchers in the SOC

bird78,
Thanks for the update on Donson Dearth. Quite a baseball player.
What a great baseball season this player is having.
(Donson in 58 innings pitches has only gave up 8 walks) All i can say is WOW!

not only is oesch excellent behind the plate, he is very good at the plate. He is currently leading the team in B.A. and home runs. He added another shot tonight which puts him at 4 on the season. This one was a monster as it left minford's field over the 360 in left center. Definitely the top sophomore in the area IMO.

Has oesch pitched any this season for minford? I saw him pitch in post and he threw the ball pretty well.

Oesch is a good pitcher to have when Farmer, Cook, and Johnson are resting. He has good control and descent velocity. It does hurt Minford when he does have to pitch though, because Oesch, in my opinion, has one of the best arms in the conference in throwing runners out. More runners tend to advance when he's not behind the plate.

LMAO!!!!! it is nice when your last starter ( on paper ) is still good enough to be expected to come away with a win. not to mention a good offence for run support to help pick up a pitcher when they are down

Saw where Berne Union got the best of Donson Dearth and the Irish of Fisher Catholic. The loss lowers Dearth's season record now to 4-4.

Wow buckeye4...you're looking WAY too far into my post. It was simply an update...calm down. I've seen the Dearth boy play and he is good.
We also have posters like you who only post when their team wins or their player has a great day. Kids need to learn to take the good with the bad, it will only make them better. It drives me nuts when coaches, fans, parents, and even players only post scores or results when their team wins (not saying that's what's going on with Dearth, but I'm responding to my critic buckeye4).

By the way, you want some top sophomores....here are a couple that I know of - Joe Alford, Bryan Stoltz, Tyler Turner (all varsity starters at Fairfield Union). Another that I know of is Ryan Jeffers from Meigs (not sure if he's a freshman or sophomore but either way he is a good one).

Donson Dearth picks up his 6th complete game of the year with a 7-1 -4 hit gem.Donson had comand the whole game with the Wellington bats getting only 4 infield hits-This win gives the Irish of Fisher Catholic the sectional crown and they will play Worthington Chistian in the districts Monday in Columbus.Good Luck Donson keep it rollin ''Bud''--Another sophomore pitching a whale of a game was Pat Angle for the Logan Chieftains who had Hilliard Davidson down 1-0 going into the 4th inning and was outscored by a 4-1 count--Great Game Pat and the rest of the Chiefs ---Go ''DANGEROUS'' SHOW THEM WHAT YOU GOT-- :-D  :!:

He will bean a few batters per game (unintentionally)....which I am ok with as it keeps the batters from getting comfortable in the box. :-D Let's hope his passes are a little more accurate in football this year. One thing for sure, he is lights out behind the plate. I would guess his is around 2 seconds on his throw to second, which makes it tough to steal on him. Many have tried and only a couple have succeeded.

Eagles20 wrote:Markie Tate from Belpre has quietly put together an impressive sophomore campain. Tate has hit close to .400 all year as the Eagles battle Meigs and Wellston for the TVC Ohio title. He has pitched very well in the limited starts he has had on the mound but that includes this past Thursday nites 2 hitter at Wellston. He is near the top of most of Belpre offensive statistical catogories including postions played as he has played every position except 1B in a varsity game this year. Starting most at either catcher or 2nd base.

Does anyone know if Belpre is starting a legion team this year cause there a rumors going around about it

Actually Tyler Watkins led the team in batting avg. Ullman was third behind Watkins and Tate. Last year the top three hitters were all underclaasman. Watkins and Ullman were Freshman, and Tate was a sophmore. Eagles will be looking good in 09.

Yes Drew Nestor, and Wesley Hatfield should get some time but they are behind already established starters
