Zane Trace hit the ball well off of Elliott. They stayed off his curve ball which resulted in the walks.
Great effort by ZT and Wheelersburg. Great tournament games between these two programs. That is why they are considered two of the top programs in Southern Ohio.

Zane Trace always comes out with a good team. I watched them play Minford early in the year and they looked a little sloppy, but most teams do in their opener. Coach Ron Allen always represents southern Ohio well and is a very good coach. Doesnt hurt that he was a Minford grad

ZT is a much better team than what I saw at Burg early in the season. Hit the fastball really well. Very disciplined in laying off the offspeed stuff since Elliott was getting behind in the count. Elliott struggled through the game without his best stuff but he battled through every inning. A tough kid and well over 100 pitches on the night. He will typically not give up 9 walks in a game nor the type of hard hit balls.
On the other side, Burg hit the ball very well especially early on. Hit the ball hard late in the game just at the ZT fielders.
The Pirates must shore up the defense tonight against a solid IV team. Must play to win, keep the pressure on and put the game away when they get the chance. Late in the game last night it look to me they were playing not to lose. Lack of experience in tight situations can be blamed for that one. Boyer must bring his A game tonight on the mound.
Congrats to ZR on a fine season and Good Luck Pirates tonight againt IV.
