An early look at the Gallipolis Baseball team.

Post by Backspace89 »

I hear they are going to be loaded this year with a deep roster.
they only lost one player...and he was a good one Austin King
but they still have everybody else back including Thompson, Noble, Stevens, Roush, Finnicum, Whaley, Rumley just to name a few w/ a couple new additions Chris McCoy, Cole Jones, and transfer Butch Marnhout.
So Look out SEOAL

They should be solid, that is if they stay away from injuries. They seem to be going around in Gallia Academy this year.

Marnhout will be a great addition, to an already stout roster.

I'm pretty sure he has to stay. You can't just switch school to play different sports...

Do you think he'd play outfield or catcher. He has a cannon for an arm but isnt to accurate.

i think he would make a great outfielder, great speed, good tracking skills,.............but has trouble actually making the catch. But with all that said, he will play whereever he is told to go........i know Marnhout, he will be a great addition for coach corvin

Official drills to start Feb. 25

Post by jottings »

If I'm not mistaken, official baseball drills will start on Monday. Feb. 25.

Understand Jeff Golden may be cleared to play baseball around the first of April. He was an outstanding diamond performer during his freshman year three years ago, but did not play during his sophomore and junior years because of injuries. He has been out of action this school year since breaking his leg at Portsmouth West in mid-August. during a pre-season grid scrimmage.

Hope Chickamauga Creek stays in its banks this spring. Don't think the new diamonds at Centenary are ready for play (Eastman's Sports Complex.)

I don't know of any new players other than Ian Dressel. And the new freshmen, of course.

I believe they have been out everyday this week. Thanks to getting only a couple inches of snow from the blizzard of 08, it melted and they've been using a new batting cage that Coach Corvin and Coach Delaney put together. It's Beeeaauuuutiful!

There are roughly 34 players out this year. Coach Corvin told me he's never had to organize practice with this many kids.
