Pitchers and Catchers Ruling????

It is my understanding that the Ohio High School Athletic Association is toying with the thought of taking the two weeks away from High School Baseball to get pitchers ready. Is this rumor true? I also heard they are to vote on it sometime soon, if they have not already?

Anyone know anything?

Still not voted on yet. There is a possibility that next year the change could go through.

that probobly has a lot to do with the rule change.....i think they need to just leave things the way they are though, let the practice sooner if they want, makes for beter competiton

I agree with SWFAN, if a kids wants to work on his or her game all year then let them. Even if it is with there High School Coach. It is all about the kids, is it not?

Kids want to go to the next level, but the rules are stopping many, especially in the rural areas, for there is not many if any instructional facilities close to some. If the coach wants to spend his or her time in helping that boy or girl reach their full potential, then let it happen. It is the kids dream. Competition is getting tougher and to compete at the next level and make it the kid has to be at the top of their game.

Even though it is only two weeks, those two weeks give the real pitchers a little more time to get their arms ready for season. In the end this will help prevent injury. So I say keep the rule as is.

A little off topic but heck with it:

Get this guys:

My jr. year during basketball season I got selected to attend Dodgertown in Vero Beach, FL (by baseballfactory), so of course I went. I wanted to get better and get some expsure becasue you dont get much in Southern Ohio. So I decided to go, little did I know I was going to be suspended for 6 baseball games, and the sad thing is, like 6 guys from Ohio went and I was the only one to be pentalized. I suppose that I never would have been turned in if my own athletic director would have left it alone like every one elses did. Whats even better is that I was still SOC POY and All-State, I even had time to record 97 k's and hit like 540. So I guess it was worth it, got me where I am today in SC.......

I think it was who paid for the trip.

The word I got is the P & C will stay and the coaches will have 1 hr a day with all remaining players.
This is a win/win situation for baseball.

ON the flip side all High school baseball fields will be shut down by the ohsaa the last full week of June and the first full week of July. This will be all Highschool gyms, fields and facilities.

This will kill summer ball in some areas

sounds to me like teams will have to spend 2 weeks of the summer playing in kentucky or west virginia...either that or hit whiffle balls on little league fields
