Former Valley High School Pitcher, Patrick Riehl was drafted in the 26th round by the Cincinnati Reds yesterday. Patrick has spent the last 4 years at Mars Hill University in North Carolina and battled back from arm surgery to get the opportunity of a lifetime. He was reporting the Reds facility in Arizona today. Patrick is a great young man that has worked extremely hard to get to this position. I know the Lucasville community is very proud of him and we're all wishing him the best in his pursuit of a professional career.

Patrick is being sent to the Reds rookie team in Billings, Montana with numerous Reds draft picks such as 1st rounders Nick Senzel and Taylor Trammell, as well as 2nd rounder Chris Okey.

Patrick picked up the win in relief in his pro debut. Billings opened tonight and Riehl threw 1.1 innings allowing 0 hits and striking out 1. Not a bad way to get it started.
