Senior Jared Cline
Quality Wins over Wellston, Belpre and maybe some more...
Solid hitter as well...

Qmark- According to today's Messenger, Cline is 5-0 with wins over Belpre (2), Meigs (2) and Wellston (1).

JARED CLINE is in fact 5-0 in the TVC-Ohio ... He has wins over MEIGS down in Pomeroy and at home ... He beat Belpre at home and on the road, and he won @ Wellston. He is (2-0) at Rannow Field and (3-0) on the road against possibly the three best teams aside from Athens. Not to shabby for the young right handed hurler.
I just don't see any other player even close to Cline for P.O.Y ... Not only has he won all the 'big games' (on the mound) for the team that pretty much has wrapped up the league title; He is a key part of their offense as well. He hits in the three-hole and has been producing all season long. The kid led Athens in batting his freshman year with a .400 avg, and that is pretty hard to do seeing as Gibby has really never had Freshmen on the varsity team.
Against Ashton Packard (one of the top pitchers in the TVC-Ohio) Monday, Cline was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI's via a two-run single and a two-run triple to lead Athens to its 6-0 triumph over the Golden Eagles ... That performance at the plate combined with his three-hit complete game shut-out on the hill might have all but wrapped up his bid for TVC-Ohio player of the year.

In the recent past, the TVC has given an "Offensive Player of the Year" AND a "Defensive Player of the Year." It is possible that a player can win both, as Erin Sturgill did in softball last season for Wellston.
If there is an Off. POY AND a Def. POY still, then we need to start thinking along those separate lines.

Cline is good but Packard is a better pitcher
but all around it will be Watkins or Cline

Dont forget Lockard or Cales from Wellston. Cales is 5 - 1 as a pitcher and is hitting over .500 as a hitter, and Lockard is over .450 with close to 30 RBI and 5 homeruns. Really good candidates for both sides of the MVP.

Cline made it very hard for anyone to pick against him with his effort tonite in the Athens/Alex Double-Header tonite in Athens...

Jared Cline cannot be robbed of the TVC Player of the Year...
Improved to (6-0) in League games pitched...
Has been hitting the ball better than anyone in the area...
He deserves the Award...
As Coach Gibson deserves the Coach of the Year...

It has to be Cline. Although he may be playing out of his natural fielding position, he's solid. A win is almost automatic when he is on the mound in the league. But man, this kid can stroke the ball! He can hit at this level, he'll hit at the next level and he deserves all the consideration in the world for TVC MVP.

Athens is new to the TVC and we all know that all of these things are political. Cline should get it but don't be surprised if someone else wins it.
