The Athens Messenger had Vinton County at (2-5) after its loss to Athens on Friday .... Im pretty sure whoever wrote the story asked the coach about their record, but ive been wrong before ...

On Thursday, the Athens Messenger had Meigs at (3-5) after they lost to Athens, that story was written by Jason Arkley - so I assumed those records for those two teams were correct.

How has Athens played twice as many league games as Wellston? I know there has been lots of rain, but with Wellston only down 1 in the lost collumn, it is a great big 1 isnt it? They will probably have to jam a lot of games in a short time and that is hard on high school pitching. Unless they stub their toes, the Bulldogs seem to be in the driver's seat.

93Bulldog...Vinton County is indeed 2-6 in the league. I detailed the wins and losses in a previous post.

Also, you shouldn't "assume" anything. We all know what happens when one "assumes."

You would be amazed at the number of coaches which have his or her records wrong, and some have no clue at all what they are. It is indeed mystifying, but happens many more times than it should. Just my humble opinion.

By the way, Meigs is now 4-4 in the TVC-Ohio with its 12-1 6-innning win at Wellston on Saturday in a makeup game. Wellston now 3-2 in the division along with Belpre, as the Golden Rockets lose ground on Athens with the loss today.

Wellston will be at Belpre on Tuesday in what amounts to an elimination game in the league race. Also for sole possession of 2nd place. Wellston is at Alexander on Monday before that, though.

Wellston and Belpre will need to win out it looks like to have a chance at the league title. They both play Athens at Athens in the next two weeks as well.

Meigs wins include Alexander, Nelsonville-York, Wellston and Vinton County.

Meigs losses include Athens twice, Wellston and Vinton County.

well welston did that to themelves because they were canceling games on days where they could have easily played just to save some of their pitching. their field drains better then any field in the league and yet they hold out on more then one occasion.

bulldog0909....You should do a little research and know exactly what the heck you are talking about before you post. My nickel's worh of free advice for this Sunday.

Three of Wellston's league games which were postponed were on the road - Belpre (April 13), Nelsonville-York (April 15) and Athens (April 20). Isn't it up to the home team to make sure its fields are ready? The Athens game it poured that day, so no one was going to play anywhere unless you had a dome.

It also rained all day, a soaker in fact, the day (Tuesday, April 14) they were supposed to play Vinton County at home. Again, EVERYONE was postponed that day, so unless you had a dome, you weren't getting any games in.

The day the Meigs game (Thursday, April 16) was postponed....I may give you that one because I drove by the field that day and other than the home plate area and 3B line in foul territory, the infield looked okay. Can't say about outfield, though.

In addition, Wellston was scheduled to play at Belpre on Wednesday (April 22) in that makeup game, but guess what? The site was switched TO WELLSTON and they played at Wellston that day to get it in. Wellston won 7-3 over Belpre.

well you may be right,i just recall a friday where i heard wellston had canceled and i was in shock because it was a beautiful day,and then i also heard they held practice on the day the canceled on their field,now if im wrong then correct me please. but i think every team is doing the mon-fri games right now trying to get everything in before the tounry which is very important.

bulldog0909....The only day that could be questionable here would be the Thursday, April 16 originally-scheduled game against Meigs.

Again, I drove by the baseball field on my way to work that day, thinking there would be a game as it was scheduled, and to my surprise there wasn't. But the baseball team was not practicing on it either.

The only Friday game in which Wellston has played, or even originally had scheduled, was this past Friday when they played Beaver Eastern in a doubleheader at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.

Not trying to be confrontational, but I know I am right on this one.

When people usually "hear" things, nine times out of 10 it isn't accurate. As some more free advice, be very careful about the things you "hear."
