Federal Hocking at Reedsville Eastern

Post by Orestes »

Well, a big game this evening for both teams.

Eastern all but clinches an outright TVC Hocking Championship with a win. I believe it would be their first since 2002.

Federal Hocking would lock it up at the top with Eastern with a win, and would be another win over Southern from sharing the TVC Hocking Championship. It would be their 8th TVC Hocking Championship in 11 seasons, and their 6th in the past 7 seasons.

Eastern won the first meeting in a blowout, but it was a game that was much closer until Eastern piled on at the end.

Eastern should be the clear favorite here in my opinion. They have played better all year. They are at home.

As for FH, they must match Eastern's intensity. I was told that Eastern was excited and shouting during the game, while FH just sleepwalked. This can't happen. Also, they need to throw strikes and field the baseball. They did not field the ball at all last time.

Finally, for FH, they are 1-4 in their last 5 games. However, they have lost some heartbreakers. They have also out-hit, and statistically (ERA), out-pitched the opponent in each of these 5 games. They must field the ball.

Good luck to both teams. I just hope FH can find a way to win.

Eastern wins with a walk-off HR from Griffin after looking at a borderline 2-strike pitch. Ouch for FH.

The pitch definatly was not borderline, it was a high hanging curve and he didnt get away with the second one

You must be thinking of a different pitch. The pitch was unanimously described as "low" and around the knees.

Look, when the pitcher, catcher, and the entire dugout think it was a strike, it may not actually be a strike, but that is a definition of "borderline."

That's what I heard. I wish I could have seen it.

Congrats to Eastern on what is most certain to be an outright TVC Hocking Championship.

So you weren't even there and you are arguing on a strike call?

One, I spoke to several people who were at the game.

Two, I am not arguing the call. Borderline does not mean strike. It means it was close and possibly a strike. Either way, that is baseball. Griffin is a very good hitter, and Eastern is a deserving team.

I only mentioned the pitch as a way to help describe the misery of FH's season this year. They have lost five or six games in the last at-bat. That is rough. Coach Brunty was due for one of these someday I suppose.

When you argue with parents during a game, you lose your professionalism. He has done it each and every time I have seen him umpire a game. When you lose your professionalism, you are free to enter the discussion.

Plus, if coach's names can be mentioned, why not the umpires who are also paid? Why do they get the special treatment? What is the distinction between coach and umpire? Both are being paid with public school money.

I'm still yet to figure out why you're in this discussion. Anyway, very nice win for Eastern, this is one of those that make or a break a team and Eastern came through with flying colors. Nice game by Federal Hocking, got threw out twice at 3rd in the last 2 innings. Best of luck to the Lancers and keep winning Eastern.

It is easy for people to call out officials but boy if you said something about them lookout. I do not know crooked Carroll personally but have seen him do quite a few games and I would say maybe not the best official but a very fair one. All in my personal opionon of course!
