TROJANS GET WIN OVER CHESAPEAKE

The Trojans start the tournament in style with a 10 - 0 victory over Chesapeake. Josh Myers had a no hitter going in the the 5th before giving up the only hit for the Peake. Several Trojans hit the ball well, next up is Fairland on Friday for the Sectional Championship. Good Luck Trojans

Myers had 12 strike outs,including 8 in a row I think....

Is Meyers the ace for Portsmouth? If he is i question throwing him against a team that posted a 1-19 record in the regular season, I understand you must win to move on but why not try to save him for a clearly better Fairland squad?

One game at a time. If you don't beat Chesapeake you don't play Fairland. Portsmouth only beat Chesapeake 5-4 earlier in the year. Cardinal sin to overlook any team in the tourney. Besides he only threw 50 some pitches (good bullpen session) so he should be able to come back Friday at least for a few innings.

after watching coach Tipton this season ,and seeing what he has done with this team,I wouldnt even think about second guessing anything thing he does


besides that,I "think" the rule is, he can pitch 10 innings a week, he only pitched 5, leaving him with 5 for friday...and with all the rain this game may not get played friday.

even so, Jeremy Scott,and Ryan Monroe has had a few good starts this season, so its not like we are with NO pitching after Myers, even though he is definatly our ace.

oh i completely understand the reasoning, just a question ... we played them twice this season and he seemed to be a very good coach, very aggressive and knew the game ... no way you can second guess it, i just honestly didnt know if meyers was the ace or not. The rule im 95% positive is that you can throw 10 innings every 3 days, therefore i believe meyers would have 10 for friday anyways. If he only threw 50+ pitches he should be good to go. not sure of how many pitches he threw, he did have 12 strike outs,and there was ony two base runners on him, one was a strike out pass ball,the other a double to lead off the 5th, so his pitch count should have been low.
