I should have posted that in the original post, but a player cannot turn 17 prior to January 2011.

cooperstown-The meeting is for Post 142 Jr Legion team, so you as a parent of a Sr legion aged player would be no point in you or him attending the meeting. The meeting will be discussing the Jr Legion team.

I have no stake in this post, but I must say it would be detrimental to baseball if there is not an "A" Legion team.

I must be honest though, that if a legion Team is going to survive and they want representatives from all four schools, then partialality must go out the door! I have watched over the years that there have been kids sitting on the bench better than some of the kids starting, but the Waverly players seem to get preference over kids from other county schools.

I also think a rule must be put into effect that a kid must have played for his high school team during the spring ( exception if an injury or illness kept him from playing) before they can be allowed to play for a legion Team. Also if a kid has played fours year (graduated high school) but is not playing baseball somewhere after high school (ie freshman in college) then no spot should be allowed for any such type of player coming out. I thought the legion program was to benefit the boys in the county who are playing baseball to increase their knowledge of the game as well as their skills.
If it continues that kids who are not playing anywhere are taking spots from kids who are playing and want to play to improve, then the Legion program in Pike County will never survive.

This continuing bickering over the rules of this program is rapidly destroying this program. Rules are Rules go by them and live with them. They are in place for a reason. if you are not going to follow them then do away with them and become an independent team, so you can set your own rules and play whoever you wish. Also this will allow the kids to pick who and where they want to play.

Remember it is about the kids getting better knowledge of the game and imrpoving their skills so they may reach their dream of playing at the next level.

If you are in it for just improving your individual players of your high school team, then just make it a Waverly program!! If not then play the best players that have earned that starting spot.
