School website has the full schedule for both Varsity and JV. Close to 50 boys came for tryouts this year. That's the most they have had in a long time. Breining and Williams seem to generate a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in the boys at both levels. Hope to see them make some positive strides this year.

Very well said. If only more people had that kind of understanding. You are correct. I also heard there was some major boat rocking by a few parents during the first week. One of the reasons you have tryouts is to see kids play multiple positions. There are quite a few returning players at both levels that have established themselves. I would rather make the team in a utility role then not at all. This program has been down for a long time and it will take some time to build back up. Obviously there is a spark of interest in baseball right now. Not sure if it's a new group of kid's, excitement to play for the coaches or maybe a combination. What ever the reason this may be the time to start turning things around. Hopefully some of the parents won't do anything to stop it. This could get very interesting.

Logangrad wrote:If Logan truly did have 50 kids come out for baseball; then there is an obvious interest for kids in the system that WANT to play baseball. I hope they can find some pitching somewhere in that group, Logan needs a dominate pitcher and the hitting will come. But I am already hearing some of the same parents that caused issues during basketball have already began rocking the boat with the baseball staff, or some of them anyway. #SMH!! At some point parents need to let go and face the fact that MAYBE Johnny or Tommy isnt as talented as you may like to think. In every sport there are starters and role pRich Bell layers. If youre a role player, either work harder to get better and be a starter or as the great used to say; "There's the door!" Parents need to accept the fact that Johnny may just be a career role player and not a HOF'er. Bragging about how your kid dominated a weak rec league or as a 13 yo crushed the competition vs 11 and 12 yo's in AAU isnt something that matters at the JV and Varsity level. The talent level goes way up from one level to the next. Work to get better. I think Logan needs to express this to their group of parents in every sport before the seasons starts and get it out of the way early. Just because you're on the team doesnt mean you're going to get serious PT. This isnt LYBA or city rec. Coaches are paid to win games and win league titles with the best 5 on the court or 11 or 9 on the field. This is what we expect from you as a parent and this is what we expect from Johnny and Tommy. At Dublin Scioto, in the preseason, parents sign a "good conduct" sheet and if they fall out of line they are asked to leave a game and take Tommy with them out the door. For a game, or many or longer. Its a great system and eliminates all the BS. Logan has a great staff in place and the kids are obviously excited where the program is headed if 50 kids came out. Let's make great strides this year and allow for growth over time and Logan will be back on top.
Grad I am shock, I agree with most of your post. I like your statement in BOLD type!

As a parent of two former student athletes, it was not my concern how the coach conducted the teaching of his sport! the only time as a parent I would have got involved would be in the case of phyiscal abuse NOT VERBAL ABUSE! Most of all, not playing time! As a tax payer, I pay my taxes for our teachers to teach and our coaches to coach. Since all of my family is out of the system, I enjoy criticizing coaches and there staffs. Also I like what grad said, coaches are paid to win games and championships! I would also like to add to his statement; all coaches must ensure there teams plays with heart, discipline and to persue the correct choices in life!

I hope that the current staff is given a chance to build a program. For whatever reason there seems to have been a revolving door with coaching when it comes to baseball. From what I am told Breining is calling the shots at the Varsity level again. Janey is no longer involved. Not sure what that means for the Varsity kids. I do know that the coaches that are there are not affiliated with the school district. They work outside jobs and come in to coach. They rearrange work schedules and such to be there. There a lot of other coaches that do the same but it tells me that there are coaches there that really care about the kids and the program. They need a chance to turn things around. Williams is coaching both JV and a 10u at the same time and the 10u team is playing in Lancaster. Refuses to have the kids in Logan Rec. This staff may change things if given a chance but the reality is they are playing with mostly Rec kids for the next couple of years. Unfortunately it seems they are already running into problems with "politics". That is a real shame. Best of luck to them. It appears they are going to need it.
