I heard that almost all the legion teams in Chillicothe had horrible win/loss records this summer. What is the reason for this? High school baseball is good in that area. I am sure that some kids play travel ball, but not all of them.

teamwork, I think one reason local legion teams struggled this year is because of the talent being spread out. Chillicothe is a small town, and to have 2 teams trying to pull from the area makes it tough. Not to mention, like you said, many of the local kids go to Columbus, or Cincinnati and play travel ball. I think another reason the area teams really struggled is the kids today have so much going on, and do not dedicate all their time to baseball. They take 2 weeks vacation, Monday night basketball league, 7 vs. 7 football, camps, etc, etc.

Good points. I know when I was a kid, it was baseball season in the summer. The family scheduled vacation around baseball. People are just not dedicated at anything today.

Circleville also didn't have a post team back then and quite a few of the Pickaway County kids would play for the Chillicothe teams. More competition, plus a smaller area to draw from and it adds up.

Agreed with the above post. When I played, we had several Highland, Pike and Pickaway County players on both Chillicothe teams. Add a few of the Circleville kids to either Chillicothe team and you've got much more depth.
