With Coach Yates stepping down just curious as to how this will impact the Adena program. Ed did a great job as did Jeff Zickafoose during Ed's "retirement".

Who gets this job, has anyone applied and who does everyone think the best replacement is going forward?

Coach Yates has established what "Adena Baseball" is. It is going to be tough for someone to come in and duplicate his success. Adena loses a ton of talent, but there are still some key pieces left. I think Adena needs to get someone who will be there for the long haul. I would love to see someone like Piketon Assistant Corey White take over a program like Adena. Corey is a great young coach who knows the game and can really teach the game.

Corey has applied from what I understand so you just might get a chance to see how that unfolds. Any other names floating around in Frankfort?

They need to hire a coach that has head coaching experience. Probably no teaching jobs at Adena though. A lot of good baseball programs in the SVC.

Where is one to get said head coaching experience if every job seems to require it?

Corey will be a great hire wherever he starts his coaching career and Adena will get a very good coach whomever they decide on. Great baseball program.

Corey White , Ronnie Free and Drew zickafoose applied . White is the best candidate . still no word on a hire . Word is Free will get it easily .

Charliehustle, What experience does he have other than coaching the JV team. I don't know the guy, but I have heard he may get it just because of family on the school board. Hopefully that's not true.

Not true . Still the football coach not interested in baseball from what i hear .

He's been in charge of Adena's youth program at scioto valley for a few years , people think he is close with all the boys and he should get the varsity job just because of that .

Has this job been posted yet? Seems odd that they wouldn't try to put a coach in place when open fields could be occurring right now for the baseball players that don't participate in a fall sport.
Adena has too much baseball tradition to drag their feet in this transition period.

people who really care about high school baseball are far and few between sadly to say. the sport is excellent in the svc because of talent and coaching. a guy like yates is a big loss. when guys like taylor, bumgardner, thomas and allen hang them up it will be huge.

adena will be the league favorite as always!!!!! but they will need too watch out for unioto and piketon if they want to keep it up.

Who is the new coach?

piketon is very good only lost two seniors off of a regional team unioto still has talent from a regional team, adena lost so much it will be hard to pick them as the favorite but anything can happen in the svc huntington proved that last year beating piketon and unioto so i think piketons the favorite but anything can happen as for adenas coaching position because they lost so much i believe they need to hire a young guy with college baseball experience i love what southeastern did in football hiring colt coy think they need a hire like that

Adena will not be the favorite. Piketon is loaded. Unioto has pitching and some position players back. Westfall has their top two pitchers back. Zane Trace has 3 senior pitchers that have thrown since they were freshman. They won all 17 ZT games last year. Huntington will be better also.
