SCIOTO VALLEY CONFERENCE 2014

Who are your thoughts for SVC Champions this year? I think there are 3 or 4 teams that could legitimately contend for the title this year. I think the league will be down as a whole, but should still be very competitive and on any given night any team could knock off a top contender.

I think you have to consider Adena for the top spot as well as Zane Trace and Paint Valley. My sleeper team is Southeastern. They have a good young lefty that should be able to silence a lot of bats.

Interested to see what everyone else thinks. :aaaaa21

Zane Trace lost 8 seniors off a 20-10 team last year.

I look for PV and Adena to battle it out for the top spot. Adena (returning Thomas, Shep, Cory) lost very little from a team that surprised most by making it to the District Final. PV (returning Thompson, McCloy, McFadden x 2)has been waiting on this year for awhile. Not only should they compete for the league title, but their tourney run in DIV should be long. My sleeper is Huntington. Kellough and Sarver are two of the best in the league. I do agree Southeastern will have a say in some things and ZT is never bad. Good luck to all teams!

Rusty, I am a Pioneer fan down to the bone; but they have a better baseball team walking the halls of the school than they have on the baseball field. Ron Allen can't seem to get a lot of ball players out on the field. I am told that he lost a lot to the track team. Only hearsay, I know they practice after school, so I will get down there this week to see for myself. I can tell you that I miss Ed Yates, he always put a competitive team on the field and made everyone else step up their game which led to some exciting SVC baseball. I would expect Bum to have a very competive team down in Piketon.

Is the Mowery kid running track or is he playing baseball this year?

Worry about Track and Basketball. Pioneer5
Don't worry about the Zane Trace Baseball program.

If ZT has been one of the most consistent programs in SE Ohio since Coach Allen took over. They are always near the top of the SVC (great baseball league) and almost always a major threat to make a regional appearance. If they have better kids walking the halls, then that's those kids loss, Zane Trace baseball was an afterthought throughout the 90s and has been a power since the day Coach Allen was hired.

That is their fault for walking in the hallways and not playing in that program. Geez!

Big surprises so far in the SVC. At the start of the year I thought Southeastern and Paint Valley would be where Westfall and Piketon are. I'm not sure anybody had Westfall and Piketon at 2 and 3. Both those teams have won a lot of close games and seem to be playing some nice baseball. I think Adena being in the top spot is no surprise. Everyone will be gunning for them from here on out. Should be a fun finish to the SVC season. As far as everyone else, I think ZT, Huntington, and Unioto could beat anyone on any given night. Especially if they can get some timely hits and pitching continues to improve.
