Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Hardfowl ... my attempt to listen online during the district championship game kept being interrupted by the Reds game? They were both trying to come across the same internet link and made it impossible to listen too ... I had to go sit in my garage with the car radio on ... lolHardfowl wrote:The game can be heard on Retro 92.1 FM and online at http://www.wyvk.com.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I think I might just listen on the radio, one of the players I like a lot(as a player I do not know him) has left Newark Catholic, so he will not be playing in this game, after being on the team all season.

already hearing excuses from the usual suspects.
I hope the best team wins.
Win or lose you won't hear any crying from N.C. Fans.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
of course they won't cry - the know they will be right back in the regionals next year, and the year after, and the year after that - infinity.
The only question is: will they be at Beavers Field or will they be playing in the DIII tournament.
Although, since the 'competitive balance issue' failed again, NC may be playing in a completely separate tournament all together ... the folks up in Wayne County are tired of the attempts made at competitive balance and are now wanting the 'separate tournaments for private/public schools' back on the ballot.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
real quick on my stance ... I'm from Athens, we are a solid DII school and I wouldn't have a real problem playing a private school.
my problem is with the 'small private schools' drawing from huge areas and little schools/towns like Racine and Trimble having to play them in the tournament.
I'm not for separate tournaments ... but a competitive balance answer - with a multiplier - seems like the right choice.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Open enrollment has narrowed the playing field a lot a long with the economy being down.
Already Newark Catholic has lost five players for football next year and I know at least one of those five played more than one sport.
There have been articles in a lot of newspaper about how private schools are losing students at an alarming rate.
Just some facts most opt not to pay attention to.
