GAHS trips Unioto 4-3 in 9th inning; Devils will
face Fairfield Union in district at OU on Monday
Gallipolis won the South Sectional Tournament baseball title Friday evening on the Robert H. (Bob) Eastman Ballfield by turning back a determined Unioto team 4-3 on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th inning.
The Blue Devils will now face Fairfield Union in a Division II district semifinal game at 5 p.m., on Monday, May 20, at Ohio University’s Bob Wren stadium in Athens. Fairfield won its sectional game Thursday by a 9-1 count over Circleville.
Gallipolis improved to 24-3 on the year following Friday’s suspended win. Unioto dropped to 12-16. The Tanks have now lost 12 one-run games this spring.
The two teams battled to a 3-3 tie in eight innings Thursday evening when the game was suspended by darkness,
When the game resumed in the top of the 9th, Unioto got two men on base with just one out, but winning pitcher Jim Clagg got the Tanks to hit two long fly balls to end the threat.
In the bottom of the 9th, Justin Bailey led off on a walk, followed by another walk and an infield single to load the bases. After a force out at home, GAHS scored the winning run when Ty Warnimont walked.

Actually, Jottings, this game was final in 8 innings — not 9.
I confirmed that with my colleagues at the Gallipolis Daily Tribune and with Coach Corvin today at the Ironton-Oak Hill game.

Its pretty pathetic the way you keep correcting the old guy, does it make you feel superior to him or something?

Nope. Guess again. I'm not trying to prove anything with this.
How hard is it for Jottings to be accurate with his information ?. :122248
If he is going to put it out there, AT LEAST BE ACCURATE WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't believe accuracy stopped in the information business in 1998.

Look, get off of jottings, he's been a constant source of great info for generations . You make yourself seem petty when attacking him, maybe when your in your 70,s you too may make a mistake or two, I appreciate his knowledge of sports info as it applies to the blue devils, I have to believe that you are a better person than this, it's gotten old. So lets move on and just post the corrected info, without innuendos. Seriously. Enough.

radioman...so basically what you and GalliaGrad78 are saying is that it is perfectly okay for ANY information to be inaccurate.
Yet, I'm confident, that if the information were about your son or daughter playing, you would want it to be 100-percent correct.
You would likely be the first one to complain if the information was wrong. Oh well, doesn't shock me a bit.
Believe me, if I reported wrong information - and I have before albeit never intentionally - I CAN NOT STAND IT WHEN IT COMES OUT WRONG!
So TRUST me. No one hates making mistakes more than I do! We all do our very best to minimize them, though.
By the way, if Jottings is such a "constant source of great info for generations", then why is he ALWAYS on here asking about "who won the GAHS game with..."- and someone has to give him the information.
I can confirm for a FACT that he is not closely connected to GAHS and its activities like he once was. Not even close actually anymore. Those of us in the know do know that he doesn't have the contacts there like before....at all.
Nor are his football and basketball stats remotely close to being correct with what actually goes on in those games. Again, I cite highly credible sources on that claim.
I respected jottings for what he USED to do in this business. That being said, there is a back-story (or two) behind all of this, but I'm saving to tell that one in my memoirs.
And no, I don't have any innuendos when correcting a Jottings mistake. All the majority wants is the information to be correct.
Not rocket science here, folks.

Wow, you guys are touchy! Keyser is right, if you are going to put information out there, you have a responsibility to try and get it correct. If you can't get it correct, do not report it!

The Information is Correct.
The Blue Devils won.
They won 4-3.
They Won the Sectional.
They earn a trip to Bob Wren in Athens.
They Play Fairfield Union.
All correct information...
The Won in 8, not 9 as above mentioned...minor detail incorrect...
mountain out of a MOLE HILL MUCH?

I think this guy gets some kind of perverse pleasure out of correcting Jottings. Maybe some axe to grind from the past, I don't know. I just wish he would stop it.

I am thankful for the corrections to get the true story, and especially to get correct time, place, and date on upcoming contests, an instance of which I see on another thread about the baseball games this week at OU. Someone may want to see a specific game and see there are two games that show 5:00. Someone who sees it may assume they have two fields to play on simultaneously! And I am thankful to Jottings for the information imparted, and for the time taken to do it.
In the past I have attempted to go to games, and got there to find out that there was no game then. The last time was this past basketball season on a perfect weather week night I went quite a few miles to a site where I thought there was a game I wanted to see, and was very disappointed that there was no game. It turned out that the game had been rescheduled, and was not publicized in any media and no one mentioned it that I saw on this site. The subsequent rescheduled game was at a time I could not attend, and was a game that was very significant, went into OT and affected the rest of the season for the losing team who lost their best player due to an injury suffered late in the game.
This time of year with the key tourney baseball and softball games that may be affected wih weather are scheduled, this site can be invaluable so long as good efforts are made by those who know, to report postponements, such that I can check immediately before I am planning to head to the games. So I so much appreciate correct, timely, and pertinent info.
When I post info that is incorrect I appreciate corrections being pointed out.

GalliaGrad78...I repeat:
"And no, I don't have any innuendos when correcting a Jottings mistake. All the majority wants is the information to be correct.
Not rocket science here, folks.

"
So no, no axe at all to grind.
questionmark....If anyone unaware read Jottings' account of the GAHS-Unioto game, it reads as if a 9th inning took place. When, in fact, a 9th inning never took place!!!!!!
As for that being a "minor detail" - well, NO, not exactly.
Perhaps the next time I write an Athens game, I will write what really happened in the 3rd inning as saying it was the 5th inning. Or what really happened in the 6th inning and saying it was the 4th inning.
And if questionmark questions me, I will say: "minor detail incorrect."

:122248

And I will add " a mountain out of a molehill much."
mhs95_06......Nice post. I'm glad someone appreciates accuracy and understands it's value.
